Absolutely fed up with the heat. I am literally dripping at the moment and we have had to have a fan running for most of the day for Bear. It was lovely at 7am this morning when we went for a walk but has got worse and worse during the day. Breathing is terrible because of the heat despite using my inhaler. Bear even refused a walk mid morning but I think that was because it was not part of his routine as he was keen enough at lunchtime when he had a very short outing on the field outside the house. He didnt go to his field yesterday as we thought it was far too hot for him so just a short walk as I think it will be all week.

Tuesday is shopping day but I didnt fancy walking the length of the supermarket car park as Mr LH always insists on parking almost as far away from the shop as possible so I went on the bus and got a taxi home first thing. The new bus route is awful for the drivers as the roads are narrow and have cars parked along them so are hard to get round. I can see them losing drivers as it must be stressful trying to keep to a timetable while negotiating the problems and drivers do not seem to give way to them.  I was home by 10am and Mr T was lovely and quiet which it certainly isnt by the time mr LH is ready to go in the afternoon.

I did do a couple of loads of washing but not much else done as I am just too hot and breathless. Onre sale this week which I posted yesterday. As I went out the back gate the handle fell apart in my hand so new one  purchased and fitted yesterday afternoon.

Too hot for me as well, @ladyholly, & poor Soot with.his black fur. He's been snoozing on the kitchen floor today - quarry tiles, so probably cooler than his usual haunts. I like low 20s.for being out in the garden. I don't enjoy high 20s+.

I am glad someone is happy. For me I can only wait for cooler conditions.

This week I have been trying to buy a litre bottle  of vodka for mr LH to make blackberry vodka for next years festivals but no one has any litre bottles. I have tried sainsbury, Tesco, Lidl and Aldi but no go with the cheap stuff so I have taken the hit and bought the well known brnd Sm*******. It was a lot pricier but I am worried that either someone will strip the local bushes or the weather will turn and ruin them all. At least he has it now.

We came back from Walking Bear and lo and behold the new recycling box that was due within 28 days has arrived after an 8week wait. I am sure the collectors will be happy that I can sort the recycling
Off to gather some blackberries now before it gets too dark.

It is not only hot but very humid. Very little sun but still ridiculously hot. I am literally having tocarry a towel around to mop my face or I end up with my eyes stinging from sweat.I thought eyebrows were supposed to prevent that but mine dont work. Not to mention my glasses keep steaaming up. Please can we have some cooler weather.

I did get out in the garden today first thing and sorted some containers out. Bear has already tried to empty one fortunately there was nothing in it except compost but there is now soil all over the gravel. I have ordered some netting and I hope that will discourage him fro the digging..

Miracles I have also managed to hoover much to Bears disgust, He does not aprove of the vacuum cleaner at all. He is getting frustrated at the shorter walks and although I have tried to extend his morning ones it is still pretty warm and because everyone is walking their dogs early he gets very wound up. Washing put away and thats it for the day.

My pension hit the bank today so transferred money to various accounts and I think my attendance allowance comes tomorrow so that will also be be transferred and I must pay the water rates which is the only bill not on dd.

Paid the water rates (I forgot them until 3 weeks into the month in August), Moved AA to separate account to stop me spending it unwisely, £10 to the festival fund and booked the enclosed field for bear until the end of the month. Hopefully we will get out there tomorrow. He is getting a bit frustrated at short walks despite giving him some brain work to do.

It is still very muggy and warm here and the promised thunder consisted of about half a dozen cracks which were not particularly close. On the positive side the rain we have had has washed the Saharan sand off the car. Hopefully it will start to get cooler from tomorrow.

I have picked the last of the tomtoes nd have been cutting stuff back. The garden isgradually been prepared for winter and working towards next spring.

  • @ladyholly We've had some rain across the channel from you and it was much welcomed, as it meant I didn't have to haul the full watering can up and down the garden 10 times!  There's a sense of change about the seasons currently and I don't dislike it, it's lovely to hear a robin trilling outside our bedroom window, makes me feel autumn is on the way.  As much as global warming will allow it to be. Glad Bear has the field to look forward to soon and hope it tires him out!  xx

Bear definitely enjoyed his field time today and was shattered when we got home and was flat out from our return about 2.30 until 5pm which is his teatime he is now asleep again. A few weeks ago we found a ball in the field which I must confess we brought home as he loved it. It is knobbly hard plastic with rubbery bits seperating the sections. We keep it for the field and one day he may learn to bring it back instead of chasing it and then either walking away or guarding it. The photo is Bear sitting in the car waiting for me to come back from the supermarket. His lead  is attached to the lever for moving the seat back and forth. He doesnt try to get out but better safe than sorry.

On money news I got a text from the bank saying we were overdrawn. Puzzled as we shouldnt be but when I checked the account I found the utility company had taken a payment of about £60 more than I was expecting. When I checked they had told me but only in their normal email telling me that the payment was due which I hadnt bothered opening. Money immediately transferred so no charges. I keep very little in the joint account to stop me spending it as that is the account most things come out of so money is moved asap and then I can fool myself we are skint. Illogical I know but it works for me..

1 package posted and I have a bid on something for next Sunday which is when my auctions end.
