I have asked Mr LH to do the hedge (without mentioning the small error with the cable) and he has said yes but I will no doubt have to remind him,

An horrible night sleep last night as I went to sleep about 12, woke up at 1.30am, back to sleep about 3am to be woken by Bear barking at 5am. Thinking he might need to go out for a wee I staggered downstairs and opened the back door. Bear disappeared down the garden at high speed in the pitch black. All I could here was scrabbling over the fence so assume that a cat was leaving the garden fasterthan it arrived. Bear came in when called and looked very pleased with himself. He doesnt like cats at the best of times and certainly not when in his garden. On his walk this afternoon he did a breif walk by another dog who he has only seen from a distance. Literally nose to nose for a couple of seconds and then walked away. It was quite a big deal for him him as she is a young chocolate lab and Bear
does find bigger dogs difficult so he did well and it is somethingwe can work on.

Fridge cleaned out this morning but nothing else done except the shopping this afternoon. I even pulled some cullen skink from the freezer so I didnt have to cook. I dont think I will be late to bed tonight.

Bear seems to be making great progress.

Bear is making progress but it is very up and down as anything that upsets him like cats, other dogs etc puts him off for a while until he settles again. He is great in the house other than barking at any car or van that dares to drive up our road. However even that doesnt go on as long as it did and it is a breed characteristic of mudis that they bark a lot. He did manage to walk underneath a cat sitting on a fence this because he didnt see it although he was ony about a foot away then we were chase by the council man cutting the grass on the field outside our house. Our morning walk is twice around the outside of the field on the footpath while the mower was also going around the outside of the grass so it was probably the fastest walk for a while as I knew if the mower passed us Bear would bark and lunge at it. We just made it home in time.

I had to go for some milk this morning as I found both my skimmed and Mr LHs full fat had both gone off, Not happy at the waste. While I was out I treated the bathroom to a new toilet brush as the old one looked disgusting. It was £3.99 which I didnt think was too bad and I also picked up some mailing bags from  the pound shop not that I have sold anything for a couple of weeks but I live in hope and things might improve when the children are back at school.

A bit of tidying in the garden done and when I have finished this will start writing plans for next years garden.

@ladyholly Can be a bit of a seesaw with the herding breeds but Bear is seeming to be adapting, if slowly.
Thank you for the heads up on garden planning - I need to think about that too - usually it's a last minute scramble here! x

He is very different to the border collies we have had in that he is very stubborn and doesnt give a toss about pleasing us but Mudis also have spitz in their distant breeding. We had a Norwegian buhund many years ago and he was much the same although as he was our first dog we hadnt got a clue what we were doing and then there was very little help unless you count watching Barbara Woodhouse on TV so it may have been our lack of knowledge.  Today we have had two really good walks when he behaved really well but tonight and tomorrow may be very different. We are making progress but as you say a seesaw.

I have started the garden stuff but not made much progress yet. We only have a small garden and everything has to be in pots so what I can grow is limited. The one thing I must get is some netting to stop Bear digging up/ eating seedings.

I made a couple of steak and kidney pies this morning using kidneys my bil bought for me as I cant get pigs kidneys easily unless I go into town which I do very rarely as there is so little to go for there. There were also enough for Mr LH to have them for dinner with the pies going in the freezer while I had some left over risotto.

Its been a miserable day today and mr LH has spent most of the afternoon complaining he is cold. I checked the thermometer and it was 21.5 so hardly cold.

The bank has emmailed to say they have raised interest rates on some accounts so my next task is to see what they are doing with them.

Mr LH happy today as he got the paint he needed to touch up the sills on the car and it was cheaper than anywhere else he tried. They mix it to order so he has the exact colour. I had to buy new kitchen scales today as my old ones have given up. I use them at least twice a day to weigh bears food. He has a tendancy to put weight on so I keep a very careful eye on what he eats.  Shame I am not as disciplined with myself.  Yesterday and today he has been good with his lead walkng so perhaps he is starting to get the message that we dont like being pulled.

It has been much warmer today so mr LH is happier.
We saw a friend today who is part of the security team at our local airport and asked if he was working the day of the ait traffic control problem. He had been and said it was absolute carnage. He had never been shouted at by so many people in all his working life.

I have started a small fund to cover the food and drink for Mr LHs festivals next year. I know it sounds silly but it always catches  me out and costs more than I am expecting. I had an account I wasnt using as I had transferred the car fund to get a higher interest rate so it wasnt doing anything and only had less than £2 so I have started it off with £15 and will add on an ad hoc basis as any spare money appears.

Sounds like a good plan to have the festival pot.
