Happy Pancake Day Turtles! My parents never really bought into this growing up and as a result I don't either if I'm honest, but my other half realised what day it was and has made us a few, which is unheard of for him!
Setting out my stall for March (can't believe it's March already...)
Work - a permanent role is coming up where I work. I have nothing to lose so will apply. If I don't get it it's not the end of the world. Also need to put myself forward for more part-time work so I can pay back my old employer quicker for the overpayment of my final salary.
House - I've got some interior doors that need fitting. Been given a quote but the guy is ignoring me now, so need to chase it up. Also need to paint my newly plastered hallway...
Physical health - I've been noticing some improvement from seeing my new physiotherapist/biokineticist (can barely spell that). I plan to keep up with my exercises and fingers crossed things will continue to improve. Really should get my electric bike out too.
My non-moving things:
-Foodbank/charity donation of £5 (all done by dd).
-Pay to your debt/savings FIRST and live off the rest - done. Managed to save a decent amount this month.
-16 NSDs - I'm a rebel turtle and stopped counting as it would make me anxious for some silly reason.
-Identify some sticking points to have a little poke at this month - need to have a think about this.
-Plan the month - done.
-Have some fun. Go on a couple of outings - meeting a friend for breakfast one Saturday followed by a riding lesson on a mechanical horse.
-Have a budget and stick to it - will do.
-Keep a note of everything you spend money on, especially as prices are rising - will do. Have shopped around for contents insurance as my renewal is due but couldn't find it cheaper.
-Come on here daily and tell us 3 things you are grateful for - I'm bad at this! Today I'm grateful for a pain-free short run, pancakes, and cheap food that would otherwise be binned.

We all have areas in our lives where we feel a bit stuck. Which areas?
work - I need some but stuff keeps getting in the way,
house - there is so much that needs doing, I need to bite the bullet and drag a builder-type in and not let him leave until he has a plan.
physical health- I need to shift a couple of stone in weight, I am going up again. I need to start coming down again. I know what to do, I just have to do it,
And here are some non-moving things:-Foodbank/ charity donation. Already do, £20 a month dd's over 3 charities + volunteer time every week
-Pay to your savings FIRST and live off the rest. 16 NSDs Plan the month.-Have some fun - not more than 4. -Have a budget - Come here daily and tell 3 things you are grateful for.
Grateful for biscoff spread and banana topped pancakes for tea, hot water bottles, cleaning and ordering some areas of the living room where flotsam seems to get stuck, it looks much better now.

Day 1 done, an expensive one, as I had a vet's bill to pay. And OH did the shopping, and I ordered dog food, so definitely not a NSD!
Made a donation to charity (the Red Cross Ukraine appeal)All spends noted2 items have left the house (actually a lot more than 2, as one was a bag of spare seed packets to DD2, to sow with the special needs teens that she teaches, so counting as one). The other was another bagful of items that were collected by a freecycler todayPlanning to go to see DD1 tomorrow now the dog seems to be ok.Grateful for seeing DD2 to catch up, as she has been away for a few days, and had covid before that, for the dog seeming to be ok after being poorly for several days and an expensive and inconclusive trip to the vet's, and that we are in March now, and that is Spring, right?

Good Evening 🌘
Productive 01st day of March. Went to the gym and got my movement quota in, then dropped my foodbank donation off, and did some fruit and veg shopping for myself. One of the things that was sliding for the last week of February was my food - and it occurred to me that I hardly eat any actual fresh fruit and veg! I'm really bad.
So today I downloaded the 'Daily Dozen' App written by that bloke who wrote 'How Not To Die' about embracing more plant-based foods. I want to try and stick with it for 2 weeks at least and see if an improved diet helps any with my mood. However, with 3 x Portions of Fruit, 1 x Berries, 1 x Nuts, 2 x Greens, 1 x Cruciferous Veg, 2 x Other Veg, 3 x Beans, 1 x Flaxseeds and 3 x Wholegrains every day - I feel I need to hire a Port-a-Loo to take everywhere with me!!!
Ahem. Anyway. Aside from upping my game with diet, I want to get my mindfulness back on track, and the gym/steps. I did so well in January then last month I derailed a bit. My long term goal is to get in shape by the end of the year, so a few weeks off my game shouldn't make a huge difference as long as I can course correct now. Lastly I need to try and find a way to make my job less stressful. I need to unpick that one a bit first.
Today I am grateful for:
1) A long chat with my ex from way back - had such a nice phone chat
2) For the opportunities I have been given in life
3) For being able to access amazing fresh produce so easily
Today was a spend day

Evening turtles, happy ST David’s Day & happy pancake day! Here’s an update of today’s achievements
Work - finally completed a task that has been hanging around for a few weeks and feel relieved it’s done. This will give me confidence to try a bit harder in work.
Life Admin - Got DS passport out of the filing cabinet and plan to complete the application tomorrow. Also tried to pick up a new recycling box but local office ran out so will have to try again on Friday.
Happiness - Have an afternoon out booked with a group of friends in June. A little while off but nice to have something arranged.
Mental Health - Feeling sad, confused and frightened about the state of the world at the moment. Trying to watch & read less news, think of things I’m in control of and seek happy news stories. May sound a bit selfish but I’m not sure what else to do.
Physical health - Had a little walk this morning before work. Not as many steps as I’d like as kept bumping into people who wanted to chat! Didn’t have time to do more. Although took Ds to local cafe after school & only had a cup of tea, no cake to save calories for pancakes not ideal but usually I’d blow it and have both!
Charity - DS had to raise a certain amount of money for school over half term so he made cookies and sold them to my DH & I so money gone in today. We also bought essentials and dropped off at a collection point for Ukraine.NSD - 0/16. Today I’ve bought mailing postage bags for potential eB@y sales, a carpet scraper tool, essentials for a charity & a cup of tea in a cafe. All spends updated in my set of books.
Grateful for - pancakes, a spring like day, daffodils & a treat box received of my mil 🌼Lightbulb moment - 17/08/2017 £17,033. Current CC debt £0.00 DFD 31/7/24 🥳. Member #8 of Fiver Friday Challenge £175/£26012 -
Evening Turtles. No NSD for me today as I had to buy some sticky stuff not involving nails. While I was at it I bought a new coat as I only have one and it needs washing and a new doorstop for DD’s bedroom door as I am fed up with cats leaping at her door in the night and wanging it off her wall. Oh dear, day one and I am already on the naughty step.
Redeemed myself slightly by making a donation to the Red Cross for Ukraine.
OH had to go back to the office today, to say he wasn’t happy would be an understatement. Apparently he was the only one wearing a mask on the train, luckily he only has to go 2 days a week.
Today I am grateful for being safe, a new coat and everyone eating the same thing for dinner and not moaning( a rare day in my house!)13 -
