Getting ahead of the game and setting out my plans for March!
My credit card debt is finally under £10k, my DFD is 24/12/24 as I pay £300 a month. Imagine what I could do with that instead! so I want to knock some time off that. Every £9.67 extra I pay off, knocks 1 day off that date so I want to be more mindful & accountable about what I’m spending on but also enjoy life as I do hence me joining this challenge.
Definitely stuck in a rut so wanting to make little changes as follows:
Work - I have been wfh since March 2020 & I do prefer it but feel completely forgotten about. From next week I will be wfh Mon/Tues/Weds & office based Thurs/Fri.
Family - there’s me, my DH & my DS who is 10. Our free time seems to be chores & DS football! We have a campervan & NT membership so aim to use these more this month.
House - Needs a little TLC in every room. and some big jobs. I’ve written a list and want to tick a couple of things off in March.
Garden - needs a tidy up & power wash. DH does this. We don’t grow anything! Our garden is basically a football/basketball area!
Life Admin - there is always something, I’ve been trying to transfer previous pensions hit a snag & gave up. I want to move forward with one this month. Also noticed we all need our passports renewing, DH done his & I want to get DS done this month.
Happiness - I’m quite happy in my little world, but as we come out of covid restrictions I feel I’m being lazy & not making an effort to socialise or go anywhere.
Mental Health - I’m very organised and find this helps. Although could do with more quality me time (not just scrolling through social media)
Physical health - I am overweight and could do with losing 2.5 stone. I’ll aim for 5lb in March.
Finance - As a bookkeeper by trade, I’m good at budgeting but not forecasting! I have today set up a set of ‘books’ for personal spending so I can have a better idea next year.
Savings - I have various pots for Christmas, gifts, car emergency fund, clubs, holidays and dentist/haircut. I round down my bank account to our holiday pot, sell things to fund DS yearly birthday party, use top£back, zip0, and cash back credit card for groceries (paid off in full). I try to make my £££ spent work harder and earn me something back.
Hobbies - Need to use campervan & NT membership more
Food - We are all so bored of our dinner menu. Will try 2 new meals this month. Switched our supermarket as used to do A1di & t£esco but don’t think we are saving much anymore so switched to a$da so at least we save time by getting it delivered.
Move your body a bit more than you have been - the days I work from home I plan to go for a walk around the block. I need to get at least 5000 steps a day. Also, DS had a VR set for his birthday, there’s a boxing fitness game I’d like to try so I’ll do that this month.
-Foodbank/ charity donation of £5. - Will do this
-Pay to your debt/savings FIRST and live off the rest. Will do this
-16 NSDs - I’m aiming for this. Already bought birthday/Mother’s Day cards needed for the month of March, this is where I usually lose NSDs.
-Fun - Plan A NT day out / meal out for parents b/day & something social able with my best friend.
-Have a budget and stick to it. - will do this
-Keep a note of everything you spend money on - have started a set of ‘books’
-Come on here daily and tell us 3 things you are grateful for. - will do this.
If you’ve read my ramblings this far, thank you! I can’t wait to get started!
Lightbulb moment - 17/08/2017 £17,033. Current CC debt £3600 DFD 30/8/24 11 months to go…. 49 weeks10 -
I would like to join please Applemuncher
I have survived January and February, been ill for most of it, exhausted for the rest. The weather has got me down and stopped me doing a lot of the outside storage stuff. Even ill today with earache!Work
Is hell, new management, so much to do, much of it ridiculous, everyone is unsettled. However I can make things much better by going to bed early, making a proper lunch, using time more effectively and having a desk at home. I was going to work on the desk thing this weekend.
Family
I look after mum which is getting harder with work being harder, good news is she is getting a stairlift!
House,
Bad news - I have to do a lot of re arranging to accommodate the stairlift, that will have to start next weekend.
Garden
I have to admit defeat and hire a gardener. I simply cannot do it myself. I don't really have the time as much as I would like to.
Life admin
I should go through paperwork and bin some of it. And find my passport. get hold of the systems again.
Happiness
I will get back to this. I am happy when I am teaching. When I have finished a piece of work,
Mental health
Probably not brilliant if I am honest, I am increasingly frustrated with living in a hot and untidy house. I am worried about the price increases.
Physical health
Would really like to get back to walking but will have to do it at work/after work. Only going to aim for 20 minutes a day as since covid I haven't been well and caught every bug going.
Finances
I am doing another non amazon month. Am hopeless at budgeting. Much more famine or feast approach to a lot of things. I need to make an extra payment on the loan this month too. I have 45 months, I want to get it down.
Savings
I try and save 1000 a month but only saved 500 in Jan and Feb. I had car insurance, rabbit insurance and then spending this month.
Hobbies
The animals! I know people won't like me describing them as that but outside of work, mum and occasionally seeing friends they are what I spend time and money on. I do love them!
Possessions
I need to gather items for the Charity shop and of course the tip!
Food
I am in charge of the food, I can't do much about prices but I can make sure I eat better, get to work early enough to have breakfast and make a proper lunch.
And here are some non-moving things:
-Foodbank/ charity donation of £5. Can do that
-Pay to your debt/savings FIRST and live off the rest. - yep
-16 NSDs (unless all you buy is fuel/travel, medical needs, reduced items. And nothing else) can never keep track normally.
-Identify some sticking points to have a little poke at this month. see above, the fish tank and the rearranging.
-Plan the month. - I will do this.
-Have some fun. Go on a couple of outings. But not more than 4. Unless postponed form earlier and budgeted for. - Ok. am going out for dinner next week and have no other plans. But
-Have a budget and stick to it. Hmmm biggest downfall right there. I make sure I have enough to pay bills but often have to borrow on CC for petrol.
-Keep a note of everything you spend money on, especially as prices are rising. - I will do this and budget better next month
-Come on here daily and tell us 3 things you are grateful for.
Today I am grateful for sleep, a corned beef roll and the guinea pigs.
Nevertheless she persisted.10
