Received a Judgment for Claimant (in default) last week & need help

Options
Hi, Im new to this forum and have been searching for help, but a little confused, so sorry for long post...
I received a PCN in 2016 for a parking ticket from Highview Parking ltd, which I appealed straight away,(it was for parking in a Gala Bingo carpark where the machine wasn't accepting money ) it was in my old car,  I can't remember exactly what happened with the paperwork as I was going through a pretty rough time, but basically I presumed they accepted the appeal, as I didn't get nothing back, then about 2 years later a had a couple more in the post demanding money and stupidly I ignored them , as I had appealed 2 years previously, so thought they were just hassling me.
Thankfully they stopped after about 3 months, then right up to 2022 (so 6 years) I received this letter and was totally shocked/upset as Id received nothing before and have been panicking, googling , spoke to CAB and basically got myself in a right state because financially I can't afford it and angry as I don't deserve to be getting this, I have never had parking tickets (apart from this one) and have good credit, so really dont need this !
Do I need to send a N244 to set aside ? or something else and Ive filled in a form online to waiver the fee as I get Universal Credit, but dont know if I have to pay first then get the money back after?
please be gentle lol

Have you changed address since the time the original communications came to a stop?

By what date does the court Order tell you to pay the Claimant?

Are you saying then that you received no communication whatsoever from Highview's solicitors, DCB Legal, in the shape of a Letter of Claim, nor from the Northampton CCBC with a formal county court claim?  If not, please urgently contact the CCBC tomorrow morning (after 9am - be prepared for a lengthy telephone queue) and ask them on what address and on what date was the claim served.

What is the date of the Judgment in Default letter?

  • No haven't received anything since 2018, no letter of claim nothing, I did try calling this today but couldn't get through, so will try again in the morning.

Normally you are given one month in which to pay, but Judges do vary the timeframe, sometimes to just 14 days, so you could be getting perilously close if it's just 14 days.

This must be your second question to the CCBC.

  • I was worried about the time frame, I did call CAB last Monday, took them 3 days to get back to me, then they asked to email a copy of the judgment so emailed them that, to be honest they told me the same info as I found online, so feel like Ive wasted that time when I could have asked on here originally !
Ill ring them 9am tomorrow morning and let you know how it goes, I really hope I can get through, thanks for your advice

What did you find out from the CCBC (not CAB) about where the claim was supposedly posted?
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

  • Hi , I eventually got through to the CCBC yesterday morning , they said the claim was posted in December, I never received anything , I asked about time frame wise , apparently I was ok , I had choice to pay the fee in monthly payments , I said I wanted it set aside & she said she would email the form & it was £275 ! I have filled in a claim form already for the fee , as I get Universal credit .Waited but I never got them emailed to me 🙄, luckily I’ve printed them off so will fill in the relevant sections & post it today .
Any good advice would be greatly appreciated as I’m not great with wording

You never know how far you can go until you go too far.
  • Thanks , I’ll have a look at that .
I can’t seem to find the Newbies post about filling in the N244?
