I was trying to think back over the years of what I've eaten on Christmas Eve and to be honest its never been takeaways. Maybe I'm missing something. I know its definately not Lamb as that is what we eat at Easter.
So from what I remember it a couple of meals were.
Grilled pork chops, mix veg and oven chips
Stew in the slow cooker with jacket potatoes
On Boxing Day its either stir fry turkey with noodles or turkey curry with rice.0 -
we have a meal that is in the freezer. Homecooked but extra portions frozen so we only have to heat it up as we have usually had a very busy day.:footie:0

I now follow my MIL's traditional Christmas Eve dinner and we have a ham that is boiled and then glazed in the oven with a sauce made from tinned peaches, brown sugar and mustard, along with baked potatoes and carrots. She cooks it as she is in and out of church all day and it needs very little attention and can be stretched to feed anyone that turns up unexpectedly. We eat the leftover ham with the turkey on Christmas Day.0
