We usually have jacket potato filled with cheese and baked beans with cold meat (ham and chicken slices) and a bit of salad so we have a nice light meal on the eve in preparation for the extremely heavy christmas day dinner. Also it means only a saucepan, grater, plates and cuttlery for me to load into dishwasher :D so no half hour clean up :D:D:D

  • Im thinking takeaway ;) Tempted to do a finger buffet but dont want the hassle of clearing up when there is so much to do once LO is in bed. I want the house to be all clean and tidy by lunch time so we can have a fun afternoon and evening with no "work" to do :D

I take my 3 kids to my Mother's on Christmas Eve so OH can get all the stuff out of the attic, whilst there we usually have Mum's homemade vegetable or lentil soup, potatoes and crusty bread, yummy.

If we are at home, because it is a Friday, we will have fish fingers and chips, but I do think we'll be at my Mother's.
  • We always have lasagne, suggested changing it this year but hubby nearly had a fit :o guess it's lasagne for the 9th christmas running for us :rotfl:
  • We used to get a chinese but hubby and I both got fed up of him having to stand in the takeaway for an hour waiting as its so busy so since last year we bought loads of the tesco party food packs, bung it all in the oven and spend the hour watching tv with the kids instead.

  • oh its getting me all excited, we have invted the family round for lunch on christmas eve, i will do a buffet with homemade treats like, sausage rolls, sarnies, mini meat patties, mince pies, triffle etc. we will all then make cookies for santa and tell christmas stories infront of the open fire, we will probably go and feed the ducks/birds then and go for a walk. we have quite a busy xmassy run up, with taking kids to see a xmas panto on the 22nd, we will deliver homemade food hampers to members of the family on the 23rd, then as above, xmas day family visit to see what santa has bought our 4 kids and give there pressies, boxing day my parents come up for day and we have bubble & squeak with hm pickles, and we have planned a big family party new yrs eve all sleep over and if not to hung over will all cook lunch together next day :)
One day I will live in a cabin in the woods
  • We've always had bacon ribs and cabbage every single year (and I'm 30), its what my parents always had aswell, no idea where this came from though.

Sounds a bit horrid now I've typed that but its not!
