  • Am thinking of doing wedges, fried chicken and salad, along with little nibbles like fairy cakes, nuts etc. Very simple, quick and cheap...nice!

Usually something from the freezer or the chip shop! I'm busy preparing the veg & last minute stuff so really don't want to be in the kitchen cooking. I'm hoping to twist DH's arm into having a curry or chinese takeaway! if not we pop a frozen Bird's Eye curry (yes we do like them esp when they only cost £1 in some places when on offer!!) & crack open a few bottle of lager & toast father Christmas! Kids will happily eat beans on toast & junk!
  • we always have a chinese takeaway on xmas eve! usually the m+fil usually bring it with them when the kids are in bed as they store all the presents at their house! but this year we have the presents here so theres really no need for them to come.

but im hoping they still will as i dont fancy waiting an hour in the chinese shop or even worse 2hrs on the delivery!

Either a takeaway or bung in the oven party food, then popcorn etc if watching films, i never cook a big meal cos i can't be bothered.!! too much to do on christmas Day.
  • Xmas eve is perhaps more fun for me from a cooking view point than the main event. I always do a buffet (I think its cause I always had one as a child) lot of nibbley bits that see me through the night and the ability to pick and mix what ever you fancy to eat. I spend ages plan what to have on it (there is only two of us so I do lots of homemade stuff rather than buying packs of frozen food). I think with my OH often working on xmas eve day its kinda signals the start of xmas and time off together :-)

DD goes to future in-laws, they have a huge family dinner on Xmas eve.
DH & I usually have salmon & a special pudding.

Love is the answer. At least for most of the questions in my heart,
Like why are we here? And where do we go?And how come it's so hard?
It's not always easy,And sometimes life can be deceiving,
I'll tell you one thing, its always better when we're together
