Narc0lepsy said:pigpen said:Narco.. Moomin said you were lovely and listened and didn't 'huff' like many of the teachers at college who just think everyone is full of excuses. You didn't talk down to her, you spoke to her as an adult which she appreciated, being so tiny she often is spoken to like she is 10.
She is going into primary teaching she hopes. She has conditional offers on 2 course with 104 UCAS points and needs to book an interview for a third.

Sounds like you're doing a marvelous job Pigpen, we need more teachers, good on her 🥰
Very blowy here on the seafront but I'd snugged the garden down last night so no damage. 8yo and I went out to look on the way to her dad's a few hours ago and half the beach was on the prom, the bins all tipped over, seafront restaurants furniture scattered about but the piers are still standing. 8yo had a playdate so while they wrecked one part of the flat I cleared another, kitchen, bathroom and my room all respectable. WM and DW. Another bag of stuff for CS to go tomorrow. Little by little I will clear the 'stuff'!10 -
Waving from my ark....
River has allegedly peaked...until Eunice hits the hills with a torrential downpour, that will arrive with us two hours later. I'll be awake waiting for the alarm phone call all night now. The kind water people have opened the gates at the dam twenty miles up river as it's a bit hair-raising there...cheers for that... DH is checking the pumps as when he flushed the toilet, the wetroom shower drain pushed up water, which means we are on the cusp of groundwater saturation (although the stone floors haven't gone dark in colour yet, indicates rising water).
I'm on my fourth G&T...doubles, obvs...10 -
Dizzy.. just doubles?? I'm sure those glasses are big enough to fit more in!

Morning all. I hope you've all come through Storm Eunice and out the other side with no major damage to life or limb or home.
The sky is clear and the sun is shining. We appear to have had a very lucky escape from the worst of the bad weather - no fences down, apart from the 50cm panel which is normally only propped up in the narrow gap between the drainpipe and the first fence post, so I have to stop Rosie exploring our NNDN's garden every time she goes out. Fingers crossed, the roofs look OK too. And the big ash tree just outside the back gate is still standing. It would appear that the old farmhouse on the other side of the lane at the back, and the copse of bare deciduous trees between us, acted as a windbreak. Other houses further along our road which are in a more exposed position have not been so fortunate.
It was so nice to go down to make my first cuppa this morning and find the downstairs clean and tidy. I took advantage of DH going out yesterday evening to hoover and mop the kitchen and DR floors in sections, and moved all the furniture back. The utility is also clear, apart from another Donate pile, and it's just my study that lets the side down. One day I *will* deal with all these piles of FH papers, but it's the urgency of doing the church accounts that is preventing me from attacking them this week. DKW calls it "Procrasticlutter" - I call it a right mess!
My steam mop is leaking badly and on its last legs. I've never been fully satisfied with the way it cleans the heavily used areas of the kitchen floor, and am wondering what to get to replace it. What do other people use to get the grubbiness off fairly light-coloured vinolay?
Have a peaceful day, folks. I'm about to dive back into the Receipts and Payments - and suddenly the sun has gone in and it looks like more showers are on their way, so I shall not be tempted to leave my desk (except for food!)
xx

Morning all.
I'm now using old style mop and bucket Ionafan since my steam mop broke.

Morning all
Didnt get to post again afterward yesterday but flying was done. Only thing left is the top floor and the stairs, I left these as DH was working. We also have a couple of surplus bits of furniture to move to the garage for donating so I expect that will be a bit of an undertaking! We’ve also come through the storm unscathed and it’s much calmer here today, lots of rain forecast though!Have a good day all x9 -
Morning all xx
Not much flying going on chez Round I'm afraid. I worked Monday to Thursday and had big plans for my 4 day weekend but I've succumbed to a virus affecting my upper respiratory tract. LFTs were negative so I carried on going to work, then had a R&R day yesterday. Woken up this morning with a chesty cough....so another easy day is on the agenda.
My bed is made and first brew has been supped. I will get dressed to feed the birds and put out the rubbish and recycling. And set WM swishing. That'll do for today methinks.
So sorry to hear about your little goat Dizzy. Poor little thing. Hoping the water stays away from you. Xx
Sorry to hear that Squeak didn't get into the school piggers. Hope the meds do their thing. Gentle hugs heading your way. Xx
I have been reading the thread but don't seem to have retained any info - so I'll send love and best wishes to all.
You are all amazing. Never forget that.

Morning all,
Belated happy birthday, YL 🎂. Twice my sieve brain meant to wish you that, and twice I forgot. I hope you had a lovely day xx
We made it through the storm and out the other side, remarkably lightly, given the strength of the winds at some point. DH and I both wfh yesterday, for which I was grateful, as my commute is over hills and through a forest, which would have been irresponsible. We are fence bereft and the standing fence was leaning in the wind like I have never seen. It is set into concrete, and the force cracked the concrete, so fence repairs is on the list. But we are all safe and sound, including DD who was in the middle of the red area (we were merely towards the edge), but stayed hunkered down in her uni accommodation.
DSiL and BiL are due here later this morning, having cancelled coming yesterday for the weekend. They are driving over from Narc0’s direction, and staying until tomorrow. I haven’t seen them for nearly 2 years, so that will be nice (DSiL and I went to school together!). I might try to do HHI first to clear the ironing pile out of the way. I guess I might need to get dressed first, though.
Have a lovely day all, and stay safe from gusty winds. It’s blowy out there, and the early sun has disappeared again. However I have a pot of crocuses and another of little irises valiantly standing up to the weather just outside the LR windows - signs of spring.
Hugs to all xx9 -
