Pigpen, I'm sure you've thought of this already but is there no way the kids can be got to school without you having to go, thus leaving you physically in a better state to deal with the rest of life.
It's very frustrating not being able to help so many of you, but then I do also understand the benefit of just having somewhere where you can waffle on, rant, rage, brain dump etc.
WM is on but not much else has been done. My own fault for eating too many macaroons after lunch, the sugar has left me feeling sleepy, along with a late night last night!

So sorry to hear about your goat, Dizzy. Lovely animals, we had a nanny and four (unrelated) kids several years ago. The nanny, Heidi, had been left here when we moved in. We go two kids to keep her company, then two more because they were being kept in a council house garden! Heidi never "spoke" to any of them, preferring to hang out with the geese, then died of old age! (We were her fourth owners). The kids constantly ran away, once climbing over a six foot fence, and then venturing ten feet up a neighbours tree! We no longer have goats, but I still prefer them to sheep.
Pigpen, sorry you're having such a bad day.
Christmas decorations, mine are away. But only because i didn't even get them out last year. Grandchildren were away, so didn't bother, (not that I'm lazy, you understand!)
ASB, I feel your pain. We've lost several of the other end of the barn now, haven't got the first ones back on yet.
Decluttered two ton back of logs into the barn, before the rain and wind comes. DW twice, TD once.
Hugs to all, keep safe, mumtoomany.xxFrugal Living Challenge 2025.10 -
Dot in meltdown because school have no fish for lunch for the third week running and she missed piza day (because she insisted it wasn't pizza day when the menu said it was!!)
I have dug out OH's chest of drawers but I have 1000 piles of stuff to put away but first I need to feed the smalls.

Sorry so many of you are having a bad time, hugs all round. Pigpen what format does OH use/have to use for his notes? My special needs head says has he tried mind maps, templates, speech-to-text software?
I'm just tired, or rather, drained. Do any of you education-based ladies (or gents - how would I know?) find that students just get more complicated every year? Today I had 2 turn up at the same time, both wanting a dyslexia assessment. One was a month early. The other thought she had dyspraxia and possibly dyslexia, but after a lot of reluctant discussion and angst (from her), I'm going to conclude dyspraxia and ADHD. I love assessing, but there are so many other issues which can cloud what I'm assessing for (guess they must all be human). I am interested in other nationalities and admire those who speak several languages ........but that makes it even more complicated. Mentally draining. And I'm still catching up with reporting last week's assessments having been away at the weekend.
We had high winds yesterday, lots of rain resulting in a few semi-flooded roads and the wind is building now. I'm not sure what tomorrow will bring us here in Herts; we're out of the range of the 'north' weather and a bit far over for the 'south/south-west' but who knows.
My main contribution to flying today was a big Ald1 shop on my way home from uni. It's usually a good, tidy shop (new last year) but today was a bit less so; unusually there seemed to be quite a few obviously gone-off fruit and veg plus a few stressed assistants rushing round with large trolleys. Perhaps it was the shop that has drained me rather than the work......Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.10 -

Hope your day got better, pigpen x
Same to Dizzy x
Sorry to hear about roof damage, asb x and mumtoomany x
I have spent much of the day cleaning/sorting
- windows and sills in my bedroom, DR and kitchen
- plants that were temporarily in my BR, now back on the landing windowsill
- plants that were temporarily on the kitchen worktops and hob, now back on the kitchen and DR windowsills
- contents of the DR drawers and 4 shelves of the china cabinet shelves, that were temporarily boxed up and hidden behind the sofa, now wiped clean and replaced
- DWx2
- WMx1 (cleaning cloths)
and I took Rosie for a walk, but not to the woods!
Still to do tomorrow:
- wash (most of it in the DW) and replace china
- clean floors in DR and kitchen
- replace furniture
- tie the cushions back on the DR chairs
- dust, hoover and clean windows in the LR
Then everything should be straight at lastand I can get on with the church accounts [rivet, rivet]
DH has bought a Scart to HDMI lead that I found with one click in the Jungle: hopefully he will fit it on the DVD player this evening, rather than doing his usual trick of leaving things for several days weeks - he still hasn't finished renewing his blue badge which expired in January!
Stay safe, everyone xx8 -
Pigpen OK I know you hate hugs and fluffy stuff.... but I sit here in constant amazement of you and what you deal with on a daily basis. You are a bl..dy amazing mum and an inspiration to the rest of us. I love you from the bottom of my heart for your honesty about your life and all its challenges, and if you cringe at that well tough
. Keep putting one foot in front of the other.
So it was a little birthday for me today, lets just say it had a zero in it, and I am not in my 40s any more. DH and I had a bargain pub lunch out and a little walk in one of our favourite places. Lots of nice cards and messages and I sort of stopped for a moment to count my blessings. I have much to be thankful for.
I get to see my big brother tomorrow, he is having a tough time and it will be nice to catch up. Oh and if the trains are working DS2 is coming home, so its 10 of us out for a meal tomorrow night.
Slightly worried about this forecast, hope it is doesnt cause you all any problems, really sorry about the goat Dizzy. I am off to open a bottle of birthday Prosecco, DSs GF has just turned up with flowers.11 -

Bloody admin
still, on the plus side I didn't get one form filled in when asked and now it appears it won't be needed after all. But it's non stop.
