My dd3 had a friend with Downs who struggled daily but put the music on and she'd be dancing away with a big smile on her face. Her only social interaction was visiting us. They moved away many years ago but I always wonder what became of her.I've been a carer for my youngest for 36 years and know how hard it can be. People like you help lift that burden and open up the world a bit for those struggling through life.pollyx8

CJ Your Granddaughter is beautiful, hopefully you're getting lots of cuddles.
Waking up at 5 am to take youngest DS to the train station for Uni enabled me to have a couple of hours before work doing my cross stitching in peace, before everyone came in.
Spending time with my wee charges outside in the Sunshine!
Its lighter in the evenings when driving back home x

I'm rather a recluse anyway so I haven't suffered from isolating anywhere near as much as some people and I am grateful for that. I just float along.
I have recently discovered that it's possible to get flowers with the supermarket deliveries so I have 2 vases of beautiful bright daffodils now. I can't stop looking at them!11 -

Good morning cheeful chums I've been reading through and I'm so pleased we can all find something happy to focus on and to help dispel some of the negativity .
This morning my youngest grandson Mikey texted me to say he had been offered a place at the Uni of his choice. He had applied for the four options he was allowed, but really wanted Essex, so he's gone off to school a very happy young man
I have my smashing hairdresser Gill coming at lunchtime to clip my mop, bless her the shop she worked at had to close because of the virus and she went mobile. She turns up covered in PPE so no chance of infection and she's really nice and a quick trim and I look less like a wooly mammoth
I shall also pop to the local post office to send off Mikey's forms for his first passport.I have bought all of my grandsons passports for their 18th birthdays and Mikey's is 1st June this year so its his turn. He is off to Cyprus with his pal in July as his pals dad has a villa out there, and they are taking Mikey along as well. He is a nice well behaved polite young man, and his pals parents think he's a good influence on his palThey have been friends since nursery school. So another job will be crossed off my to-do things
Again we have a dry mild sort of day and its the first time I've not had the heating on first thing so spring must really be here fingers crossed soon
Keep up the positivity chums .looking at some of the comments its really good to see they are all forward looking and we all seem to get so much pleasure out of just looking at nature pollyanna those winter walks sound brilliant and a great way to explore the countryside without getting wet feet or cold
t14cy_t isn't is lovely the smell of washing when its come in off the line, such a small thing but it gives us all such enjoyment and so much nicer than stuff sprayed from a tin to freshen the room up with
all the cheerful things that we have spoken off ,not one of them speaks of monetery things, its all about what gives you a lift and its free as well ,win-win7 -
Reasons to be cheerful:
Checked on the Library online system and a book DH wants to read is showing as available in one of the local branches so will go and get that for him; he's given me his Library card. Saves having to pay a £1 reservation fee. I've done this before if it's a particular series I want to read in order or for any book I fancy really.
Played music for some friends to dance to yesterday over Zoom. A bit of exercise and made us all feel good.
Also yesterday did a 2.5 mile walk around a nearby area and found 9 geocaches: easy footpaths, dry weather so very satisfying.5 -
I absolutely love this thread, thank you for starting it. It's so easy to get bogged down with what's going wrong that we forget to stop and be thankful for what's good in the world. I have subscribed as I think this thread will really benefit my mental wellbeing. So, here's my offering today;
- It's gorgeous weather outside, just a bit nippy at the moment
- It's my last working day of the week as I have a long weekend planned
- I have been watching the squirrels playing in the wood at the bottom of the garden
- I have food in the fridge and some money in the bank (I am aware others are not as fortunate)
- I have been singing along to the radio this morning which always makes me feel good

Where do I get one of these from? Nothing induces happiness more than cuddling a baby
These last few weeks have not been good for me, I've been incredibly stressed over work and miserable in the cold weather, putting in long hours and heading straight to bed after, and not enjoying the home I have ploughed so much into. The nation's microeconomics and the behaviour of those at the top have been getting me down too.
I agree its appreciating the simplest things that are helping me escape the grind. Just observing the days get a few minutes lighter every day has made a huge difference, even better if I can escape for a walk before dark. As has sitting down and making time to read - it just transports me away from reality for a few minutes and gives me the break I need.
No man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.8
