I can't quite work out where they've got the estimated annual figure from either, using the stated rates and assumed consumption. I make it £976.98
2900kWh is the mandated typical usage that Ofgem insist the suppliers use when presenting tariff details.
... and if you check your maths you'll get to the same figure they use.
    365 x £0.57782 + 2900 x £0.29923 = £1078.65

I guess I need a new calculator as I didn't get that answer initially!

See some previous replies above, it's apparently the rate from 1st April but doesn't say so. I'm about to complain to BG about it.
Complained about this & guarantee date today on chat &after a long while going round in circles told them to confirm & go ahead with my complaint,Now they are going to contact me by phone.

from the info above it looks like anybody not paying by direct debit will be moved to the more expensive non direct debit tariff from April so I recommend setting one up before then

I have set up a DD & my post April tariff is showing as

Standard unit rate 29.240p per kWh
    Standing charge 37.918p per day*

i.e. the standing charge is around 20p per day cheaper on the DD tariff
compared to the tariff listed above

However at another property in a different part of the country that I also  manage the billing for the post April tariff is

Standard unit rate 28.021p per kWh
    Standing charge 42.242p per day*

So there appears to be a fair amount of variation

The difference you see is mostly the regional variation, the difference in the South West region is about 6p, £0.5162 vs £0.5778

  • I have noticed that in some later boarding letters the price fixed date is filled in, but the price guarantee date is not ... on my Mums email from british gas on 28th september the price was also guaranteed until end of june...

  • I am now awaiting the Energy Ombudsman's decision on my complaint, in my case, price guaranteed until 31 July 2022.  It is now at the final  decision stage.  However, I have just noticed this, when I used the app on my phone to do a dummy switch of tariff and the following appeared but I can't copy it - this is the wording

"Your current tariff is due to end on 31 July 2022
If at that point you don't choose a new tariff you will be put on our standard variable tariff, which may be more expensive but doesn't have any exit fees."

However, when having email correspondence with BG they kept telling me and also in my deadlock letter that my tariff is variable, and used a typo as an excuse.  Is this wording another error?  Because why are they advising me that if I don't choose a new tariff I will be put on their standard variable tariff which they keep telling me I am already on!  Could someone please confirm the pricing for the two tariffs is the same (before price cap rise) apart from the fixed price until 31 July 22 in my case for the Welcome to British Gas Tariff.

I'm watching this with interest because I took a screengrab of the tariff page on 24th December with a guaranteed date of 31st July 2022.

Should I complain now that the new tariff has just appeared or wait until the OP has a ruling?

That part is not an error, it accurately reflects BG's current position which is the tariff ends on 31 July, so at that point it will no longer exist and you will all be moved to their standard variable tariff if you do not pick a different one.
The bit they have changed is the removal of the guarantee date.

Your tariff probably has a special name so BG can tell which company you came over from. It will be that that ends & will then just show as Standard Variable or whatever BG call it
