Vanquis have upped their fixed rates but alas yet again my 5 year plus Starling account cannot be validated at sign up stage...

Had same the issue in April so I gave up!

Never had a problem with any other bank and been living at the same address for 15 years plus...I just tried 4 times (different browsers too) but keep getting the following message so I've given up once and for all...

We have not been able to validate your Nominated Account

This could be for a variety of reasons such as you may have recently moved house, or you may not have had the bank account very long.

We will need you to supply some additional information about your Nominated Account and will give you some instructions around this once you have completed your application.

Do you have another current account? Vanquis had no problem with my Lloyds account.

Yes, tried Starling & Chase which both couldn't be verified so amended the bank to my Virgin Money current account (which I never use) which was immediately verified! All very strange but got there in the end.

I'm just gonna let the monthly interest get paid into it then transfer into my Chase current account.

Anyone know the daily transfer limit out of a Virgin Money current account?

When opening a fixed rate account with Vanquis it asks how much you intend to deposit. Can you deposit a different amount or does it have to be the amount you filled in on the application.

@DavidAC, you can deposit whatever amount you want to. I opened a 2 year bond a couple of months ago with Vanquis and decided to deposit twice as much as I originally stated and it went through fine.

Just catching up with this so a bit out of touch. Both our fixed rate 1yr savings are up for renewal next week with Investec. I have a higher offer to reinvest of 5.82 for 1yr or 5.85 for 2yr.  Is this an indication that the rates will go down in the next year or so and are people doing two year plans now rather than one year?  Which is the best to go for (obviously nobody has a crystal ball).   I know there are slightly better rates out there but I like Investec, Im away at the moment and its easier just to stick with them. There is no real danger of me needing the money.

Nobody knows for certain but educated guesses are that fixed rates have peaked and will now only go one way. Why not hedge your bets and do 50% in a 1 year and 50% in a 2 year if you can’t decide?

You need to remind yourself what were the savings rates 12, 24, 36 months ago. You need to get out of your head.

-if I get in now at 5.85%, say the interest saving rate goes up to 6.00% I feel I would be cheated-

I have a 3 year bond with two more years to go a 4.95%. you know what, I am happy with this.

My 2 year fixed rate with Kent Reliance expires next week, and they have offered me another 2 year fix at 5.97%. I think I will take it up.

I've an Atom fix maturing & thinking of going with Vanquis on a 2 or even 3 year fix. Not sure on length tbh.

    Anyone here recommend Vanquis?
  • My 1 year fix with SmartSave matures this week and I’ve been offered a 1 year fix at 5.86%(0.05% higher than what they currently offer). I’d prefer a 2 year fix really, but SmartSave only seem to have the 1 year fix available at the moment.
