My 1 year fix with SmartSave matures this week and I’ve been offered a 1 year fix at 5.86%(0.05% higher than what they currently offer). I’d prefer a 2 year fix really, but SmartSave only seem to have the 1 year fix available at the moment.
I have similar with a maturing Kent Reliance bond: options include a 1yr fix at 5.95%, compared with their normal rate of 5.70%, or a 2yr fix at 5.97%, no 2yr fixes on general sale at the moment. That's the second KR bond I've had with good maturity options recently, very pleased with them.

I've an Atom fix maturing & thinking of going with Vanquis on a 2 or even 3 year fix. Not sure on length tbh.

    Anyone here recommend Vanquis?
I like Vanquis, You can alternate your interest payment from annual to monthly or vice versa as i have done. What other cash bond provider does this, it's  a great feature.

Just look at Vanquis bond savings rates 1 year 5.95%. Why is this not showing on the money facts compare site?

Edit- probably just released the product.

It is listed - on Moneyfacts, you always have to click the 'Rate Order' button because the default 'Provider Links First' view bumps the banks they make money from to the top of the list.

How long does the first payment to Vanquis normally take to show in the account? Do payments go in on a weekend?
  • I have a notice accounbt with Vanquis - normally on a week day it shows quickly - normally that day but unsure if sending on a weekend
  • Moneyfacts and Savings Champion have 1 year top rates of 6.05% with Union Bank of India and 6.03% with Habib Bank Zurich. Not sure why these aren't listed with MSE.

Just catching up with this so a bit out of touch. Both our fixed rate 1yr savings are up for renewal next week with Investec. I have a higher offer to reinvest of 5.82 for 1yr or 5.85 for 2yr.  Is this an indication that the rates will go down in the next year or so and are people doing two year plans now rather than one year?  Which is the best to go for (obviously nobody has a crystal ball).   I know there are slightly better rates out there but I like Investec, Im away at the moment and it’s easier just to stick with them. There is no real danger of me needing the money.
Nobody knows for certain but educated guesses are that fixed rates have peaked and will now only go one way. Why not hedge your bets and do 50% in a 1 year and 50% in a 2 year if you can’t decide?
Dammed good idea!  That is what I will do. Ill advise Mrs D to do the same, shes the one with all the money.

You can add Charter to that, as they also have that option. You can also change from paying interest into your fixed saver to nominated account, or vice versa whenever you like.
