sparky0138 said:FYI Nicky toilet rolls at Home Bargains (32 pack) have gone up from £6.99 to £8.79!!! Unless the £6.99 price is how much it usually costs when it's on offer and I was just unlucky when I went at the weekend.
I've never seen it at that price before though and a thread on HUKD seems to suggest it's usually £6.990 -
Yes, all those prices from last year are now way off.
Farm Foods now 72 rolls for £22 and there are £2 off a £25 spend with codes and vouchers all over the place (website if needed)0 -
I like Aldi quilted toilet paper, not scented, no aloe vera or shea butter.
It is thick enough to use one sheet at a time.
It is strong enough to use as a wet wipe with a bit of soap and water.£3.39 for 9 rolls of 160 sheets, £0.23 per 100 sheets.
It is much cheaper, softer, and thicker than the basic tissues when you have a messy head cold.
Sainsbury’s budget 40p per 100 tissues
Asda budget 60p per 100 tissues.I keep a few packs of toilet paper in the spare room so I never have to panic buy. The price increase of some brands seems excessive.

Is, “Who Gives A Crap?” toilet paper good quality?
That is 22.9 per 100 sheets at £44 for 48 x 400 sheet rolls. That includes delivery, and there is £5 off the first subscription.
I have sent for some. 4 months seems much too soon for the minimum regular subscription.
The added value is the contribution to sanitation in Africa, and if you have ever had to use the one “hole in the floor” toilet, at a very long meeting with 600 women……1 -

This is from 1957 when the average wage for men was £7.50 a week. One Izal toilet roll cost more than a loaf of bread, 11d. They were sold in single rolls not multipacks.
Izal Medicated contained carbolic acid and we had pink carbolic soap at school, chunks cut off a long block.
When the toilet roll ran out we had newspaper, folded and torn into sheets with the edge of a wooden ruler.
I can just remember the septic tanks being emptied before the school had mains drains.
We do take things for granted.0 -

So much to read, so little time.0 -
It arrived promptly.
The paper wrapping is quite pretty, though I think this is taking frugality a bit far.
I was thinking of putting some in the Smallholders’ Association raffle at the next meeting.
We have had some very good talks on thrift.
The sheets are about half a centimetre narrower and two centimetres shorter, 10 x 10 cm, and a bit thinner than Aldi quilted toilet paper, tiny when folded.
The double roll may give 80 more sheets than two Aldi QTP, but it is only 1.6 metres longer, 13 sheets of Aldi QTP difference.
It may need more sheets? The three layers hold together well, one layer of the Aldi QTP comes adrift sometimes. It wasn’t too bad with water and soap, some papers disintegrate.
It doesn’t feel as soft.
It is adequate, so-so, but I am comparing recycled paper to new paper.
Perhaps the feeling of being virtuous will make it feel a bit better?
I have learnt that it comes from China. I shall not be buying any more. Aldi QTP is made in the UK.2
