The Izal medicated trading paper that we had in schools in the seventies must have been chosen based on cost, have you tried that?
Similar type in the Civil Service buildings in the seventies. Each sheet had "Government Property" printed on it!

I bought 108 rolls on Amazon back in June 2020. It cost about £31 for the lot, around 30p per roll, but I had around 14 rolls of the Lidl toilet rolls left. It was 2 ply and I seemed to use more than I did of the Lidl toilet rolls but including the 14 rolls from Lidl I've just used the first 18 pack in 19 months.
Someone please tell me what money is

I reckon just go for maximum number of sheets for your money. Unless you and your family are actively managing consumption at point of use (!) I think most people will just go by eye and pull a standard length off the roll regardless of how thick, quilty or scented it is.

    We've been using these:

for ages, they seem fine to me (and are double-sized rolls).

Regina Soft & Gentle 2 ply FSC certified 40 roll pack from a catering suppliers were only 14.99 inc VAT when I bought them in 2020, now 20.38 inc VAT. Still have more than 80 rolls left. When I'm down to my last few, will be shopping around for bargains.

I try to regulate my bowels so I do my best to only go on work time or when I am about socially - A very effective way of minimising toilet paper consumption!

Very MSE. And a bit OMG. Certainly TMI ... :)

We could also consider ancient Roman methods, which obviate the need for toilet paper altogether.  Stick, sponge and a bucket of vinegar was a great idea!  :D
