CATZNINE - I'm going to look into getting a daylight bulb for my desk lamp; I'd never thought of it before but it is a great idea. Are they easy to buy? I could do with one for my knitting corner in the sitting room. I find the older I get the more I am affected by light levels - I don't know if that's age or something else!

Hi Kathy! I got my daylight bulb at our local sewing supplies shop, it is a golfball type bulb and works very well when tackling sewing projects or scrapbooking where I need to concentrate more but I also use it while at the computer once the natural light fades. Somewhere like B & Q might also stock them.

I now have a large pan of apple pie filling - chopped apples, sultanas, apple pie spice (ground cloves, cinnamon and nutmeg), brown sugar and water simmering away so the house smells lovely. The parsnips are peeled and ready to be turned into curried parsnip soup and the beetroot has been cooked ready for the choc beetroot cake so feel quite productive. Just want to mix up a couple of banana loaves so I can fill the oven up.

Lunch will be a hard boiled egg with beetroot and carrot salad and maybe a slice of hm whlolemeal bread, dinner tonight is kedgaree using some of the smoked mackerel, the rest is going into smoked mackerel & advocado salad with horseradish dressing from the portfolio eating plan.

wow aussielass - dd and I would never cope with the spiders!

:hello: Hi Csarina - your post about the doll brought a lump to my throat too! what a lovely lady!

Thanks Catz - I'm going to my local sewing/knitting shop tomorrow morning (one of my favourite shops!) so I'll have a look then. I'm really mad that I've never thought of it before! Enjoy your veggie afternoon!

Bird that was shut in the boiler room from last night is now free !!!!
It emerged from there, flew into computer room and landed on the window sill, hotly pursued by two cats (they couldn't reach window sill for all my clutter...........lol) so I carefully grabbed starling and let it go into the outside world !!!
Washing all done and drying............dinner sitting waiting to be put into casserole (next job), checked and double checked cards and pressies to take away tomorrow.....did all my paperwork (phew more than I thought !) thought I'd finished but theres a plant to collect from the florist for my Mum.
Must ring OH to do that and get more dosh from bank while he's at it.

    Afternoon

Hopefully I have sorted this typing out now, I can't seem to thank anyone or so smily faces?? I have looked in user CP but not too sure what I am looking for? Ideas anyone if it doesnt work?
Aussie -I took your advice and had a brisk walk to blow some cobwebs away I also had a good cry which perhaps I needed, OH has been working loads lately so I havent seen much of him, life is all good but I just can't shake this feeling off -- nevermind I will get there. I have decided to take my mum to Harrods tomorrow to have a look around and to buy myself a Jo Malone candle.
I have cleaned the spare room and hung some new nets and window scarves which look really good.
Not too sure what to have for tea might be fish and chips tonight
Hope everyone has had a good day

Great News Tru, of course you aren't showing off, just sharing good news

What a day it's been at school, we've had 2 ambulances called to school today, 1 child will need plastic surgeryon a crush injury, the other was unconcious after trying to jump over a chair instead of going round it. Both incidents were accidents, but the kids are a high as kites because of Christmas. One boy came to me after falling down stairs with his gym bag string round his neck. He obviously felt I didn't give him enough attention, I admit I was a bit distracted as I was waiting for the paramedics to deal with the crush injury. I did look carefully at his neck & could see no sign of injury & I gave him a glass of water to sooth his throat. He wanted to lay on the medical bed which was still occupied. So I sat him in reception where there were people who could keep an eye on him. A passing Deputy head asked him if he was ok & the child changed his story & said he was thrown downstairs, throttled intentionally with his gym bag, kicked & jumped on. Forunately there was a staff member at the top of the stairs who saw him fall. As I was about to be bo***cked for not getting the child to write an incident report.
I was asked to explain my comments to the bursar, but I stood my ground & said her behaviour was inappropriate, so nothing further will be done.
To top it all off, I was returning to my department & one of the boys decided it would be amusing to try and intimidate me, by thrusting his face down to my level, shouting at me & wagging his finger in my face. I'm 4'11, he's nearly 6ft but only 15. I'm not easily intimidated, but I was so angry, I was so close to breaking his finger, or slapping him round the face. But I restrained my self, as I know I would lose my job if I did. No doubt tomorrow he'll be ok again.
    Hugs Hester

Hester, that's horrible, hope they have a good recovery smile.gif

Why do some kids lie like that?

You edited as I typed :D How an earth did you stay calm? I lost my rag and threw a knife at the teacher's table in the dining hall once, was sure I'd be fired but I wasn't :rotfl:
