Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Thur 13th . This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning. I thought the thread would be here by now.
I have to get going soon, bins to put out and lunches to make and then off to work.
Went late night shopping last night in Truro. Quite festive, cold and very English. Choir in the cathedral singing, hot chestnuts, markets etc. Very nice.
Manged another gift for my list, although it's hard work this year even though we only need a few things to take out for our friends. I am trying to find 'English' things and 'Cornish' things, but it is hard work...believe it or not.
One shop GUL, a English surf shop had some great tops for ladies.... 2 for £30 or 1 for £28. I only wanted 1 and I am not paying £28 for it.... why not just sell one at £15?????????????
Got my tins of Roses at last, found a few in Morrisons hidden away. Great deal as I did not have to buy 2 or 3 to get money off, they were sensibly priced to start with.
Well 2 more work days left, need to get packing and a tank of fuel before the panic buying starts...
Well folks have a nice day

Morning N9aev and everyone else who follows - where are you all anyway - all snuggled up in bed no doubt.
Well off to w*rk in a bit - must remember to bring bike in next - the saddle was frozzed yesterday - ouch. Our xmas lunch between 1 and 3 and then I think I will leave at half three. dd bringing dgs round for the night as she is having her braces off (hopefully) in the morn. hope he's a happier bunny than he was at the weekend as he spent most of his visit on the naughty chair finding out that nana's are not for shouting at, biting, kicking or anything else nasty and are in fact for loving and making cheese on toast. When not being naughty he spends most of his time eating or being a dalek which involves him going missing in the house and then jumping out to tell me i am going to be imminently dalekated - should be fun!
have a good dayI'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 20080 -
Morning all
No break from the lodger over Christmas, she paid me the rest of this month's rent last night as she can't arrange anywhere to go. I told her if something does turn up I'll knock it off Januarys rent, you know, the month she won't be able to pay as she won't earn any money, lol.
As if it's not bad enough hubby not having any work, his boss, who is also his brother has 'forgotten' to pay him! when hubby phoned to remind him, he said he'd been busy buying his wife & kids Christmas pressies, saying he's spent over a £1000 on each of them. If his cheque doesn't arrive by tomorrow I shall be having words with BIL, I think it's appalling. I bet he didn't forget anyone else's cheque. Hubby has got 3 days work with his other brother next week, thank heavens I have the lodgers rent to use to pay hubby's train fare.
I hope everyone has a good day.
Hugs Hester

Morning :santa2:
It is absolutely freezing here, not helped by the fact that we've had to turn the radiator off to stop the real tree shedding :snow_laug
Loads of Ebay pack and wrap, can't decide whether to stop listing or carry on through Christmas - we carried on one year and had people bidding on Christmas day
Gammon joint for in the slow cooker for dinner, think I'll do mash and parsley sauce with it.
Haven't finished Christmas shopping yet, biggest problem is DH, no idea what to get him, and he doesn't really want anything, so could do with some inspiration
Have a good day everyone xYou're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -

Happy Birthday to Penny-Pinchers dd hope she has a lovely day0 -
Hi N9EAV - glad you found the Roses!
MRSMIX - Congratulations to DS1 - 88% is brilliant! Hope your sofa arrives today!
Well, DH has just left for work. He's well wrapped up but it's not frosty this morning. Still cold, though.
Well, today I need to wrap some presents up for posting - one has to go to France so I must get that off today. I need to finish off the rest of the cards, as well. I actually managed to get DH to write out the cards to his sister, Dad and two brothers. It took him ages and he kept interrupting me even though I had put everything ready for him! Nearly drove me mad. I keep telling myself I should write them out but I think they should be in his handwriting to show he's made a slight effort!
Well, having had a new Sky+ in exchange for the one that conked out at the weekend, we now find there is something wrong with the television! Everyone has gone green. It's avery old one but we don't want the expense of buying a new one just before Christmas. When DS2 and his GF moved into their house a year ago, they purchased the wall-mounted large screen television that the previous owners had there, so I know they have two spare TV's; I'll see if I can cadge one of those until after Christmas.
Today I plan to re-organise the sitting room ready for the Christmas tree :xmastree: :xmassign: :snow_grin :santa2: :xmassmile :xmassmile to go up on Saturday; it will be ready for when the grandchildren come round on Sunday.
Well, I'd better toddle off and have a shower and get going on some of the chores. I'm giving blood this afternoon   so I'll have a rest there!
Hope everyone has a good day. See you later.

CHARLIE'SMUM - if your tree has roots, try watering it every day; that should help stop it shedding. Turn off the power to the lights before you water!
HARDUPHESTER - that's the worst thing about working for family. Don't let your BIL get away with that. And, by the way, I really detest it when people boast about how much they've spent on presents. We only boast about how little we spend on here!
Does this mean you will have Christmas day with the lodger? How will you cope?!
