Dizzy, love the description. We're trying to get ready to sell something similar, renovated (in 1980s) 1850 farmhouse, many original features (beams and wood), yes double glazed but the frames are now rotten and it comes with a good size private garden, converted outbuildings which are occupied by pine martens (small furry animals that poo everywhere). We don't mention electricity or plumbing or running costs. It does have a lovely new roof. And you have to love porous quarry tiles throughout all the downstairs. But we've lived here for 20 years and loved it, wouldn't have been anywhere else despite shedding many tears every time something else went wrong.
Lunch eaten, walk had
3rd load in WM, more ironed and away.
Scanning done for OH

Hi girls
Thank you as ever for the kindness. You are all treasures.
Piggers I am keeping everything crossed for you xx
Mumtoomany - basically it seems the kids can’t get free school meals because I don’t claim UC, but I don’t claim it because I had a bad experience years ago with them saying I’d been overpaid and I owed thousands back. I also don’t claim the other benefits on the FSM list. I have though emailed school to see if there is anything they can do.
I have done a full stock up at Aldi today, spent £54 but it will last us the month barring extra milk and bread. Flying? I’ll have a think....
Dizzy - your description made me smile. Mine would be 19th century, dust bunny infested cottage with two cracking fire places but bare floorboards upstairs 😂😂
I realised earlier today that we lost several roof tiles at the weekend so that’s on the list too...

ASB.. They calculate your UC monthly now based on each months income so it is just as likely you owe them as they owe you! My daughter has an additional £400 this month because the income was adversely affected by being off work due to C19.
First cardigan sleeve sorted, I will start on the second once the bugs are in bed tonight

Your house sounds a lot like ours Dizzy. 250ish year old farmhouse. Inhabited by many people and almost as many mice and spiders. One carpet, probably antique, the rest bare boards and very uneven stone tiles. Part finished extension. Three barns, one of which has a complete roof. 13 acres of mud with a few sheep. It will be fixed one day. Don't know when though. Hugs to all, mumtoomany.xxFrugal Living Challenge 2025.9

Hi all, what a day, too tired to read properly. Note to self, organising 3 meetings about completely different subjects in one day is not a good idea. I need to say no sometimes.
House is tidyish if you dont look at the kitchen floor too closely. Hoping to take the afternoon off tomorrow to go cycling.
I will concentrate on the new properly tomorrow I promise. Downhill all the way to the weekend ladies.11 -
Morning all
Plans have changed and we are now heading away for the weekend to sort some things for FIL….so last night after work I tackled some flying, I whizzed through my office and the spare room with duster and vac, cleaned bathroom, emptied bins and swished over the en suite. It didn’t take long and at least I feel like something has been accomplished!Another poor night here, too many things whirling in my brain, but I’m up, showered and dressed and will start facing the day.
will try to post a flying update later. Hugs to all x9 -

OH fed and watered.. panto tickets booked through school.. my mother paid that but I have to straight that up when we finally get some money in.
Dot has been given the Blue Badge so she might live after ballet.. she is a nightmare for running off and even worse in car parks because of the massive sensory input it throws her into a tizz.. parking by the doors in a space which fits out car in will be amazing too!
I have washing to hang out.. and more to put in.
OH on day 14/20 of training .. nearly done.
DW, TD to fiddle.
1 ebeast item to post
Prescriptions to collect
Opticians appointment to see if one is due for OH.. I hate making calls.. might do it now actually.. get it done.

Ooops I'm late today but I've been fluttering
Bed made, clothes picked up
WM on, 2nd load ready to follow
Table cleared in bedroom and cleaned
Sorted through my handbags, some I don't like or use in give away box
Spreadsheets and banking checked
Fan put back into storage
Some emails deleted
Yesterday I did hoover the bedroom, bathroom and landing so that's all looking better
The bins go out tonight so I will be hoping for some space in my neighbours bins to fill as I have quite a lot of extra bags to go.
Supermarket shop needed, but I'll go this afternoon once I've had lunch with OH and we've been for a walk. He's working from home so I will use his company car and therefore save fuel too.
Bigs hugs & spoons for you all

I hope everyone is okay. I know today has been difficult with all of the negative news and I am personally really struggling with it, and our government’s (IMHO) terrible way of dealing with it.
But we’ve done our small bit today and offered all of our surplus eggs for free on the village group so hopefully that makes someone’s load a little lighter, even if only for a day or two.
Love to all xx
