Hugs to all, especially @Dizzy_Imp and @Deleted_User. Dizzy, if the debt is unsecured, (credit cards, loans, etc) phone them and tell them you are struggling a nd need a payment holiday. Will give you some breathing space. Asb, have you asked if your children are entitled to free school meals? Surely on such a low income they should be, and maybe help with uniforms too.
Been flying, when not busy being a goffer for OH while he is replacing DD3' s car engine. I've cleared and cleaned my computer desk and the window sill at one end of the FR. Also cleared a sill in the spare bedroom, now full of seed trays, waiting to germinate.
Hugs to all, mumtoomany.xxFrugal Living Challenge 2025.11 -
Narco.. on Zanussi boilers FU is the blockage/low water code.. but it couuld be as simple as the valves allowing the water through are turned off, or partially off. If they fitted a new boiler on an old system without cleaning it then it is very possible they shifted some black slimy water sediment and it has blocked a pipe somewhere in which case they will need to drop and clean the whole system. When you turn the heating on are any of the radiators still cold? It may be an indicator of where there is a blockage.. or any knocking sounds culd be an air lock and the rads need bleeding.. it could also be the water isn't filling the system so there is inadequate pressure.. engineers are often thinking they are clever biddies without actually having a clue what they are doing. I had them out 7 times to fix mine and the 6th time received threats that they would not come out to the same fault again (I did say, if it is not fixed yes you will I don't pay insurance on it for nothing!) so I rang, threw a wobbler they came out and replaced the most expensive part of the boiler.. at this point it had more money in parts than a replacement boier would cost!.. and it worked fine and I put in a complaint about the rudeness of the miserable engineer.. even the other engineers agreed he was out of order and is always a misery.
Twinkle screamed herself into a nosebleed and made them all late for school because she 'couldn't find her shoes' which were in the bedroom behind the door where she left them! She had 2 more screaming fits between leaving the house and getting to school.
OH set his alarm for 5:30 and went to the gym.. we shall be having rules about him doing that again.. get your shizz together the night before no opening drawers and no sitting on the bed.. and he is not allowed in bed once he gets back.. waking me up 57 times so now I am tired and in a grump.
WM on so I have that to deal wwih in an hour
airer can be cleared and woollies/fleece can be hung up.

Bursary appointment at 12 for Squeaks secondary school place... my head is fried but she needs this. I am hoping OH can get permission to join me as it is so important.. I'm guessing people have had longer off for a pointless doctors appointment in the last 3 weeks so this is less time missed and he can play catch up over the lunch time.
I need a big fluffy good luck fairy and the planets aligned and the gods on side.. if anyone holds any sway!

I love today's date. 2.2.22 In a couple of weeks it'll be 22.2.22 which will be even better but today the date is the same in the UK as it is in the USA.I hope the bursary meeting is going well Pigpen, and that your meetings are going smoothly YL. *fingers crossed*(((Hugs))) for Dizzy and ASB. *Boiler fixing vibes* for Narco.Freezer stocktake done, all the drawers tidied, space found and meal planning is about to happen. I desperately want to get rid of the chest freezer. but it's still got stuff swilling around in the bottom of it. We need to eat it.Still sorting a space a day and it's beginning to show - there is space in drawers and cupboards as I'm binning and CSing stuff. It's amazing how a few minutes here and there adds up over a few weeks. I like it.We started Wordles yesterday and I wish I done so months ago - lots of fun.Better is good enough.11

Afternoon all. Thanks for the hugs - I sure need them at the moment. ASB - your life seems so much like mine, you poor thing!
Well, I'm trying not to continue with my pity party and in celebration, I have blitzed the downstairs wetroom...after clearing up puddles of unmentionable stuff that a poorly dog had left me overnight. I demanded that Alexa get my lazy husband out of bed to wash down the offending (and offensive) pooch. So he went to work in a grump.
Out of curiosity, I requested a general online valuation for the house (I know its not very accurate as there are local issues, like flooding that need to be taken into consideration) but nearly fell off my perch with the current estimate! Prices round here have obviously skyrocketed. I'm now being bombarded by phone calls from estate agents wanting to come out to do a proper valuation. I'm trying to think of a description that might appeal to potential buyers and so far have come up with "characterful Tudor farmhouse (dusty, wonky accomodation) full of period features and huge fireplaces (made with trees already 300 years old when Henry VIII was born and home to various snaggled-toothed hairy creatures, oh, and rather draughty) with expansive garden, orchard and paddock (that look like Steptoe's yard) in a desirable, but accessible rural location surrounded by farmland (on a flood plain). Currently being extensively restored and renovated by (now almost bankrupt) owners"
Am I selling it to anyone?
Oh, and thanks for the reminder Narco... "with new oil tank and boiler system (but still partially underground with no DPC)"...

Dizzy.. I would LOVE it.. if it could be picked up and moved.. it is just a lumo of materials.. sell it and move somewhere to make new, less wet, memories.. honestly, it would take a huge weight off your mind.
meeting went ok.. utterly nono-committal but the lady has a daughter with selective mutism too and hers is an opera singer.. there is hope for Squeak!
