Here goes…. My February commitments.
A month of fives.
FIVE minutes a day on clearing some clutter or tidying up. Or 5x 1 minute slots.
- My wardrobe is pretty tidy as I only ever have 33 items in there. so this month I will focus on sorting out the drawers, there are 11 of them in my room, so I’ll see how far I get. - edit - there are actually 21 drawers!! I have cleared 8 today, so still plenty to do.
FIVE fruit and veg a day. Minimum.
- unlikely, but I’ll try 🤷🏻♀️
FIVE minutes of outside time. Daily.
- I have to do 30 mins of activity to close the exercise ring on my Apple Watch, so this it doable.
FIVE minutes of moving every day.
- ditto as above
FIVE gratitudes each day.
- Yep,
FIVE minutes in the morning (or last thing at night) to plan the day ahead. Prioritise. Nibble frogs. Make sure you have fun.
- I’ll be on here at the end of each day, and I find reading all of the updates fun as well as inspiring. I will also spend 5 mins at the end of my work day planning for the next day.
FIVE things every day that you enjoy.
FIVE consistent good habits that you can do all month.
FIVE books read throughout the month.
- I have a friend who is an author and I have one of her books, which is not released until later this year, to read, so I will read that, and also a few books I have bought over the last few years that I have never got around to reading. I will also charge up my kindle to and see what’s on there.
FIVE items to leave the house (you can choose 5 each day, 5 each week, 5 bagfuls...) over the month.
- I’ll be taking all the items which haven’t sold on Vinted in the past month to the charity shop, and there are 7 items I think.
FIVE frogs to be swallowed over the month.
FIVE things that take you out of your comfort zone.
FIVE donations to charity if you can.
And FIVE non-negotiables:
pay to your debt/savings FIRST and live off the rest.
- all of February’s non direct debit bills have been paid already and I want to keep an eye on my budgets for one more month before I commit to paying money into savings as once it’s in, it’s in.
NSDs – 15 please. You keep it if you ONLY buy yellow sticker items, fuel/travel, medical items, or are paying for randomly-needed-but-planned-for-costs (eg kiddie activities, milkmen, window cleaners…)
- ✅
set your budgets and note all spends. That way you can see what went well and where you can tweak things next month.
- I do this in various ways, I have a spreadsheet where I list everything I spend, I use the Emma app which tracks direct debits etc, and I use ‘year in pixels’ to keep a track of NSD’s so I’m definitely covered here
plan the month: anyone attached to education will know half term falls this month, so think ahead and plan accordingly.
- one birthday planned for and present arranged, I also have a card already, another birthday needs to be sorted, it’s for a 90 year old so will need more planning than a normal birthday.
go out on 2 outings and splash out £5 on yourself at some point.
- hoping to meet up with ex colleagues so will push for that to happen sooner rather than later and taking my niece whose birthday is in feb out for lunch next weekend.
- my £5 is likely to be spent on a book light for the paper books.
