Oh well I hope you don't end up with a massive bill when you read the actual against what you have been chargedQuite. I think had we seen a photo of the side of the house covered in bushes, we'd have said in unison "what's hidden behind the bush" !!

@JulesSheah I'm very glad it was finally found - I assume that the shut-off valve has been tested now and found to move freely - that is after all the most important thing about this. I agree with others though - I am very interested to know how the readings compared - could you perhaps update us with that information?
I'm afraid I think you should have taken the £100 goodwill credit from Eon though - your inability to find the gas meter was hardly their fault, and I still don't really know quite what you expected them to do about it!
They weren't being particuarly scaremongery about the difficulties in switching either I'm afraid - unless you are prepared to take a fix your options of firms to switch to would be very limited at the moment.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

I seriously have no idea as to how he did this as nothing is visible, my neighbours house has no windows to see thru on that side and there is a 6ft panel fence, plus the meter itself is buried under 5 ft of shrubbery, but anyway it has been located. it is not where my house builder said it was and is in fact at the opposite corner of my house.
All of this should have been resolved in week 1 of you moving in - when you contacted Eon to give them your details and the opening gas reads - which you couldn't do. That should have prompted a rapid visit to the site office .
Now if it is in the middle of your garden you are going to have big arguments with the builder to relocate it to the panel .Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill1 -
Sorry people but you still don't get to know what's behind the PANEL. But I'm glad the meter has been found. How long will we have to wait to know about the billing estimates?

Just a thought...does the wall your meter is on actually form the boundary with next door, so it's actually in their garden?
Is that why you weren't able to find it as it's not accessible by you? How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0 -
So see if you can spot it2 -
Completely buried and not visible2 -

Estimated bill was just a little higher than actual reading.
Meter man came earlier this week and was pleased to be able to direct him to it0 -
