Thanks for that update, but I think you need to a bit more personally pro-active here, rather than just following their complaints procedure.

You could find you're going round in circles with them for months!

I can see a stalemate occurring whereby they (the Eon engineer that may eventually come) still won't try removing that panel if they can't easily do it without damaging it.   Unless you give some sort of written damage waiver and it's OK'd and specified on his job sheet.

So if you're going to be on the hook for a new panel/door then why not do that on your terms?
Agreed -  that panel, whether or not a meter is behind it, is yours (not Eon's)  -   if you are not confident in removing it yourself , get a local builder in.

As others have said you also need to locate the ECV.    Should you have a fire the fireman will simply smash his was in to switch it off -   minutes wasted in him locating this could be disastrous.

I really don't see where Eon are being negligent - it's your problem not theirs.

A local handyman or neighbour with a (modest) toolkit - Doesn't need any great skill to pop that cover off.

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.

@julessheah I have been following your journey closely and I do hope you can find a resolution.  Just an idea but I think you said you have a new build home and whilst I appreciate the length of time that has elapsed since moving in, maybe complain and seek resolution from the builder?  5 years after buying my new build I had an issue (drain cover in my driveway wasn't the right spec) and they agreed to replace it, even after 5 years.  Maybe it is worth a try in your circumstances?
  • Even worse Robin, if there was a fire and the firemen could not find any gas ECV. Soldered gas pipe joints can come apart in a fire and seriously add to the intensity of the fire!

Far better for your own safety to find out where it is first at your leisure.

I it was me then I would want to know if there was a meter and if not get one fitted so that I was no longer on estimated readings at the whim of the supplier.  Incidentally their own internal regulations require the meter to be viewed regularly [ to prevent and meter bypassing ].

Rather oddly in the UK there are not usually gas stopcocks in the street for domestic properties.

OP hasn't logged in for a few weeks. Somehow doubt we'll get an update
