It would be a bizarre scenario for a franchised main dealer to put a halo model car on their forecourt with damage that they could get a replacement part for probably £600+VAT tops, and be able to reclaim the VAT anyway.Grumpy_chap said:
That does not seem like a very good deal for the purchaser of the car becauseutopia55 said:They have knccked off £500 from the asking price to reflect the damaged front splitter
So, you will buy the car with the £500 discount but then need to pay £1,200 for the replacement part plus fitting means you will be down by at least £2k. That's a "hit" to you of £1.5k.utopia55 said:they can't repair carbon fibre must be a full replacement and its a £1200 piece
You may be best to negotiate more for that damaged splitter.
They would have priced the car to account for the work needing done, not just left the damage.
"Yeah theres a really bad dent in the wing of that £40,000 car but it was going to cost us too much to fix it so we just left it."

So they would not reduce the price of the vehicle, but they reduced the price of the vehicle by £500?utopia55 said:They have knccked off £500 from the asking price to reflect the damaged front splitter1 -
Would it have been Pistonheads? I remember reading the same thing.victor2 said:Amused myself be re-reading some of the old DarkMatter threads last night.
Reminded me of a thread on a car owners forum many years ago (well before DM), where a boy racer stated he kept the passenger seat of his car laid flat because it reduced the weight and therefore improved performance. He had the figures to prove it. It was priceless, even better than DM's Yaris brakes episode. Can't remember what forum it was - wish I could find it now!1 -

He was mistaken in his reasoning. It was more aerodynamic though as the airflow through the vents wouldn't hit the resistance from the seats. Remove the rear window for this to be more effective!

Could have been. It was referenced on a few forums I think!

We should seek utopia55's advice on the matter!

He could roll the passenger seat back on his Mighty M4 and lower the centre of gravity....victor2 said:Phantom151 said:victor2 said:Amused myself be re-reading some of the old DarkMatter threads last night.

Or have drum brakes put on the back to make it more Yaris like.1

Bags of cement in the rear footwells would make it hndle like a mid-engined car!motorguy said:
