Yeah, I tried them for a bit.
Definitely the ones that are scored below 4* are to be avoided, you get little value sadly.
With those 4* and above it varies, some offer a lot - my local Morrisons petrol station would give away huge bags, with bread, milk, and all sorts of random fruits, sandwiches - sometimes worth about £20 for £3.50 although all with 4h left for BB date. They would often cancel, but the bags were nice surprises most of the time. Others like Starbucks always gave 4 sandwiches/rolls etc.
Depending on the demand where you live, the good ones nearby me disappear within 5 minutes from posting, the bad ones.. stay all day long.
They'll refund you in a day or two.0 -

I went to a high-end bakery the other day and got a reasonably big TGTG bag of cakes and pastries for £5. I probably wouldn't have spent £5 on them ordinarily, but I had family coming over and thought it might be a nice Saturday afternoon treat, and I was right, it was. It was cake at its best: light, fluffy, not overly-sweet and no trace of the taste of egg.
I then came across a last-minute TGTG from a local bakery yesterday morning and was intrigued as to £3.34 would get me. Answer, a MASSIVE bag of cakes and pastries (15) and 2 big loaves, clearly from the previous day as the cakes were without exception they were stale. Juxtaposed to Friday's purchase, there was no comparison - all were given away.It will keep for ages in the freezer (the cake not the trifle
)

There is however a bakery listed in the vicinity that bags puts delectable goodies in TGTG bags but my goodness you have to be quick as they get snapped up in seconds!No man is worth crawling on this earth.

We were seriously unimpressed with our surprise bag from the local co-op.It contained a some cooked bacon bits, a pack pork and apple burgers (we don't eat pork of any sort!), some broken pita breads and (the saviour) a couple of lemon cheesecake slices which would have cost around £3.50 so we got what what we paid for but certainly no bargains.1

I have only read the posts dated 2024 as I believe the Ask A Friend feature only started then? I cannot see any mention of what happens when someone else picks up here or online.I had only used the TGTG app a few times for myself but today I have done one for a friend 25 miles away. It’s all paid for and they have accepted the invitation but I’m not sure what happens when they go to collect the surprise bag. How do they confirm receipt? When I collect, obviously, I show the shop assistant the app while I swipe the Received button. What will my friend have to do?0

This feature has made my life a lot easier. The downside is that my penchant for local bakeries is making me a lot fatter!No man is worth crawling on this earth.

Thanks. I didn’t realise the person you send the invitation to has to install the app so they can swipe on their own phone. I am learning!1
