Self-pity is strange like that....... even if you KNOW there is a lot in life to be grateful for, you just don't feel able to see beyond the things that you are worrying about.....
Another platitude but - counting your blessings (and it sounds to me as though you have quite a few) might be a good idea today. And then.......
.... do one thing that will make you feel better - you know what will work for you (for me it's exercise or a bit of gardening or talking to an animal). That might enable you to feel strong enough to try and tackle maybe just one thing on your To Do list?
Try turning on BBC2 - a film about a boy with one leg running across Canada. Now that's inspiring - better than silly old me anyway - although I am v touched by your reply.
I know you've tried before with the smoking but PLEASE keep trying. It is a horrible horrible addiction and it had me in it's grip for 30+ years. Now I'm free and have been for exactly 9 months; and these 9months have been among the most miserable of my life but one thing is for sure - financially, I could not have got through the last three months if I was still smoking- and physically, the benefits are significant and immediate - take my word. Sorry, I can start to get all evangelical about it - but I sense your worry about quitting and just want to reassure you that it is not as scary as you think - promise.
Take care - and you can PM me if you want; I don't mind.

thank you so much,
i think you have put my glasses on for me today!, i can see things a bit clearer.
thank you for advice about smoking, i think it's the idea of giving up rather than doing it that scares me.
i am counting my bleesings as we speak and you are right, i've got lots of them.
i once read something in a book that said " thinking horrible, depressing thoughts is like writing yourself a nasty letter and getting upset by it". you have the power of your own mind (it's just a not as easy some times!)
thank you once again x

I just can see where you're at and want to tell you that you're not on your own....
I have been away from here for a couple of hours to look after my old horse - but managed to get attacked by a cockerel and a (boy) goose - so, much as I love animals, my theory that they make me feel better went out of the window today that's for sure.
I hope your day is improving from this morning.....
Take care

right i'm off to start!
ohh, didn't get all my things done, ohh well onwards and upwards for today.
church service with the school was great,
they are having another assembly today as one of their teachers is leaving after 30 years and all the children are singing "never forget" by take that, so it's tissues aplenty for today i think!total -nov07 [strike]£25,526[/strike] jan08 [strike]£23,246[/strike] May08 [STRIKE]£21,171[/STRIKE] June 08 £20,9640 -

Your situation is quite similar to mine I've got 2 children, left work to look after them, only one wage, didn't cut down, in fact spent more.
A hell of a lot of grief & horrible things happened, leading to depression & it doesn't take very much to make me very low!
BUT as you see those totals going down, the fact that you are controlling your money, not IT controlling you, you know exactly where every penny is & even though you are not working as such, you are bringing in money by doing slice the pie ebay etc & you are doing the hardest & most important job in the world - you are being a great Mum!! ( besides feeding the kids mice:D )Comping again - wins so far : 2 V festival tix, 2 NFL tix, 6 bottles of wine, personalised hand soap, Aussie miracle conditioner
