I think you've done the right thing. When my chln were smaller we did exactly the same thing for the same reasons. Although I was dreading it, actually not having the car was the best thing. I had been piling all of them in and driving around to this and that like a mad thing. Now I couldn't do that life became simpler and we all enjoyed it more ( except when it really really rained but even then the chln didn't mind! It was just me!)
Keep up the good work - you are doing amazing things and are really sticking at it. You are inspiring!Getting there...slowly!
GC : must do better
NSD: very rare

Hey cheapie (if i may be so bold as to call you that!? sounds a bit horrid!)
Well done on taking the bull by the horns and doing what you thought was right, and your rationale for selling seems pretty sound to me. plus as you rightly point out there are a lot of school holidays coming up...
You have solved quite a few major problems and averted a financial disaster, so well done you!
And as Belle said, the kids will probably love walking to school every day and the excercise can only be a good thing for everyone.
It sounds like you have got enough on your plate at the moment and looking for a job shouldn't be a priority for you just now. Generating income, yes do what you can but remember you are a hard working wife and mother so remember how valuable your contribution is.
Looking forward to seeing a more upbeat end to the month for you, as i think you have been stressed treading water this last couple of weeks.
Much love,

I don't have a diary, my life is not that interesting! I just hijack other peoples!! Re my sig, that shows where i am now, but the big stuff has gone now and with new sig size, there was no room to include it. I has 3k on Egg, a couple of store cards and £1400 on an OD... so pleased they are gone now. Working on getting rid of the other stuff now bit by bit. Have kinda lost momentum if i'm honest.
Re bingo, oh yes, i love it!!! have done since i was young and used to play prize bingo in my nana's sheltered housing lounge, would win pairs of tights and bars of soap!! i do limit myself to about £10-20 a month, but i also go out to a local bingo (£5) on a saturday night at nearby village hall. (quite good as can take DD along too as long as she's quiet. Thank heavens for Nintendo DS!)
I play wherever the free bingos were, although they have stopped mostly now. If i'm paying for it i go to Sun Bingo, or Gala... i paid £10 and got £20 free on Ladbrokes last week, off which i won about £30, so was £20 up. I once won £500 on Sunbingo, which was amazing, t'was november so took the pressure off for last xmas a bit! Other than that it is £20 here or there winnings and i'm okay with that. Scares me when some people in the "chat" speak about spending hundreds!!!
I don't do chat on bingo but my username is the same so you might see me around, do say hello!!!
I've subscribed to your diary so will chip in every now and then. If i took my own advice as often as i gave it, i would be richer and wiser!!!!I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -
Hi
Just thought that I would drop by and see how you got on. It sounds like you made the right decision about the car and you sound more in control again, hopefully onwards and upwards from here on in.0 -

Hi Vandanfc,
thank you so much for popping in, i have been up and down all morning, at first when the gentleman didn't ring i was worried he had changed his mind. and then he did ring and i was fretting about the car going!
i must admit when he drove it away, i cried:o
but now hubby has gone to put the money in the bank so i know i will have a hugh smile on my face when i ring and pay off my loan!:Dtotal -nov07 [strike]£25,526[/strike] jan08 [strike]£23,246[/strike] May08 [STRIKE]£21,171[/STRIKE] June 08 £20,9640 -
Well, i paid off one loan in total and left a small balance £400 on another and just knowing the are paid is a great feeling:D
no more dreading the phone or the post, don't get me wrong there is still such a long way to go and we are struggling day to day still, but we were behind on these 2 and when they keep adding interest and late charges it really was starting to spiral out of control.
i am now going to have a big ebay day this weekend and we are doing a car boot for the first time on sunday!!!!
and i am trying to aim for £4 per day on slice the pie, and still doing all my surveys and the like and everything i make from all the above will go to clearing that £400 and then we will be 2 debts down and that will feel fab.
our old overdraft which we are paying £170 month to will finish in 3 months so that will be another £170 in the bank every month.
i need to cancel my car insurance and thats another £33 pounds in the bank and we have just had a letter to say hubbys is coming down from £110 per month to £80 so thats another £30 so hopefully in about 3 months we should be £230 per month better off;)
for the first time in i dont know how long i can actually see a way though this:ototal -nov07 [strike]£25,526[/strike] jan08 [strike]£23,246[/strike] May08 [STRIKE]£21,171[/STRIKE] June 08 £20,9640 -
Looking good. You also sound so much more positive now, keep it up.
Good luck with the car boot and ebay.0 -
