OK Here goes
i am 32, married with a goddess trilogy (my 3 little girls)
hubby has a fab job and wage and i am a stay at home mum.
most of the debts we have stem from 6 years ago when we had children, we went from 2 fairly okay wages to 1 and kept on spending as though we still had 2 wages for 2 people instead of the reality of 3 people and 1 wage.
we started using credit cards and trying to be clever we would balance transfer to get 0% with the intention of cutting the other up.
Of course we didn't. in the end we ended up 5 credit cards all up to the limit.
just before i had my 2nd child my hubby got a fantastic job and his wage tripled!, unfortunatley by then the money problems were there and we have been playing catch up since then.
we both realise we have been stupid at times with money and we sit now and think that had we been sensible with money in the past that by now with my husband job we should have no debts and be making a dent into the mortgage debt, as is we seem to strugle day by day and the money seems to fall through our fingers.
we have both now decided that this is the time to do something serious about this, we want to have a secure future for us and our girls
our debts are now

Hi there hon and welcome to the wonderful world of DFW!!! You're certainly in the right place to deal with your situation, and there is lots that you can do to get to debt freedom las soon as possible.
Take a look at whatsthecost.com to see an approx debt free debt and the best way to pay your debts off, or overpay them where possible.
The most importnant thing though, don't look back. We all make errors hon, whether that be financially or otherwise, let those past mistakes go and concentrate on the future.
Ok, lets take a wee looksee at this ere SOA.CHEAP_AS_CHIPS wrote: »OK Here goes

EGG LOAN - £9,100 END 2012
CO-OP C/C £900 Whats the interest rate on this one? and remaining limit?
MINT C/C £96 As above. It may be cost effective to transfer the balance of the storecards with their no doubt "ouch" interest rates onto one of these cards if it has a lower APR.
LITTLEWOODS - £1,800 Again do you know the interest rate on this?
NEXT - £600 Ditto the above
FREEMANS - £147 And again
OVERDRAFT - £1,200 Is this the full maximum that you can go to r what it currently stands at? do you know what interest rate they are charging you for this?

CAR INSURANCE 1 £104 OMG!!!!!!! Why so much hon!! that is mahoosive!!
Anyway of cutting this down at all? try getting quotes from quidco, even if only a small difference in cost the cashback may make it worthwhile to switch
CAR INSURANCE 2 £41 Still a little high, try shopping around.
PAYMENT PROTECTION £47 What exactly does this cover and is it value for money? grab your policy details out and have a look through. As a Mortgage advisor i would never advocate the cancelling of a mortgage related policy but if this is linked to loans or CC look very carefully as to whether it is value for money.

hi, pania,:hello:
thank you so much for your great advice, i am going to check all the interest rates to see what i can do.
i know the car insurance is HUGE! it's hubbys and he has 6 points and because he drives so many miles for his job it's classed as business use. same goes for the petrol ( i wish it was sporty or 4x4 )
bread maker is an excellent idea - we go through a loaf a day at least( and i love the smell of fresh bread)
will def try that with sky
i think you are right about the childrens savings(the main reason for doing this is to secure their future)
thankyou so much for taking the time to read and to offer advice also, your a star, :A (could not find a star smiley!)
just checked the rates all pretty good apart from the catologues, omg! i must get rid of those first!total -nov07 [strike]£25,526[/strike] jan08 [strike]£23,246[/strike] May08 [STRIKE]£21,171[/STRIKE] June 08 £20,9640 -
