Well done, asb. It always gave me a lot of satisfaction to do my own DIY, IYSWIM. And I have never bought anything on credit, either, except my car (and I had already saved up the money, but for some reason I got a better deal if I took on the credit).
This house is now tidy and clean all through, except for the utility floor where Rosie leaves lots of muddy footprints.
DH has been up to the GP surgery this afternoon and has got more painkillers for the neuralgia, so he will be in a better mood soon.
Rosie and I are off out now to find (and hopefully avoid) more mud - and perhaps meet a friend or two to play with.10 -
ASB.. I never replace anything until absolutely necessary. My living room carpet had holes in it after 15 years. I replaced Momins when I decorated her room because it had paint spilled on it years before. And the one in my middle room was fully refunded.. it was supposed to be striped but has no stripes! My back room one was reduced so much it was 20% of it's original price.. Seems like false economy to me to replace stuff for no reason.
I got out of bed today.. packaged 2 parcels.. and fell asleep in my chair.. I may just go back to bed.

You're doing awesomely ASB, if your floors are wood have you thought about sanding and varnishing them. I did this years ago in DDs room, threw the carpet out as it was disgusting and they were just pine boards so sanded and varnished. Yes it was hard work but not costly and was so easy to keep clean (sorry I hate carpets anywhere).
Last estate agent has been so once we get her official valuation we will need to decide who to go with, quite a variation in the price and the type of people they would target.
Gardener due soon to give me a quote
Kitchen worksurface full of plastic boxes has been cleared so just a couple more areas to go and the kitchen might be presentable. I need to decide what to do with the spices, they are currently on top of the mantle piece (cooker is in a huge fireplace) but they make the place cluttered and are filthy.
WM now in TD
DW emptied and put back on again.
Time for tea and cake whilst I wait for the gardener10 -
WUDUPA ✅ including DSil's cake tin...which I will return in the hope that I get another Christmas cake this year 😋.
Extremely ood bottle of R!ben@ poured down the drain and bottle recycled.
Foot care present put away and packaging recycled.
Guess what I found under the other end of the kitchen table? A pair of DS's socks and 3 odd socks. Is it possible for a house to infested with socks? I'm certain this house is 🤣
asb - good for you xx if I can't afford it I don't get it.

OH away to post PCR and 2 ebeasty parcels.. Twinkles results not in yet, but I was not really expecting them to be. She is fine, slobbed on the sofa snotting everywhere under a blanket. I feel quite nauseous and the headache is being a pain .. in all meanings of the word. I have no temp, no cough and the ginger biscuits were delish. I don't have much of an appetite but that is normal when I have nausea (emetophobia is NOT fun!!) As a result I have low blood sugar so am super wobbly when I stand. I am going to try and have actual food, after OH has cooked it.
I need a box of lft's today.. I have some in the post but none in the house.. I need to test the girls before school tomorrow and DS2 and OH before work tomorrow.. not that a test means anything the result can change in such a short space of time. I could test before school and they could be spewing forth viral particles by lunch time.. their temps are ok though.
I need the DW loading.. the washing drying and OH is going to buy cat food next because Amazon were refusing to accept my bank card or his.

Hello ladies! Not much to report from me as I got in from Maccy Ds, made packed lunches for three, welcomed Gus the Spaniel for a playdate, did my stint at breakfast club, collected my prescription, oversaw the skip delivery, took in parcels for neighbour, put WM and TD on, emptied DW, refilled and switched on, fed dogs and cats, had a cup of tea...and fell asleep on the sofa. Luckily I had set an alarm to wake me up in time for the school run!
Hope all Covid infected peeps start to feel better soon - I'm dodging it left, right and centre ATM, just waiting for it to hit me, if I'm honest
Sausage plait planned for dinner, then more butchering of lamb for the freezer. I need an industrial mincer to process all the gizzardy bits for dog food. DH bid for one on eBay yesterday, but we didn't win it. They are so expensive, but I just don't have the budget for a brand new one. I understand being on a shoestring very well ASB!
Pottering, ironing and accounts planned until my next shift at 10pm, but I really need to hoover (or boss somebody to do it lol). I also have to sort the sock pile...this house is also infested with odd, random ones too Round, and I'm not sure why!?

Evening all,
another one late to the party, and no real excuse either m’lud. Thank you for the lists. Glad to see that I have dodged the kitchen bullet again 😉.
Rotten night’s sleep, full day at paid stuff, but I did put the wm on before I left and put out the recycling for collection, which DH had forgotten to do. Everything prepped last night for him to switch the sc on today, and a pretty tasty dahl it was too, ready when I got in.
ASB - we have also gradually got rid of the carpets here. The DR carpet was worn when we moved in 15 years ago, and now it is absolutely threadbare, completely missing in places. It won’t get replaced until we can afford to do it, but no one has ever refused to eat with us in our DR because of it! DD had bare carpet grippers in her room for years. We even covered them with tape for a few years which really added to the look. She now has the only new(ish) carpet in the house.
Legwarmers knitting finished last night. I need to rummage and see what I can do with the odds of wool that seem to have multiplied.I hope all poorlies in the Pigpen house feel better soon.
Love and hugs xx9 -
Thanks for lists. Hugs to all poorlies, both mental and physical.
Had planned a run this morning. Looked at frost. Yawned a lot as I didn't sleep well. Got on scales. Went for a run.
- wudupa
- filled bird feeders.
Then followed a random room-wise but logical fly around in preparation for student assessment (dining room) and student's mum (going to work in my study):
- cleared dining room table.
- put away anything that needed putting away in dining room/lounge
- ditto kitchen
- ditto hall
- vacuumed lounge/diner and hall.
- Filed a load of 'stuff' from my in-tray; the one that rarely gets touched as I'm too busy.
- cleared study desk and any other gibble.
- vacuumed study.
- quick check and clean bathroom.
First call from student's mum asking if they could come early. Fine. Rushed around even faster, tidying and preparing. 2nd and 3rd call to say road closure diversion signs 2 villages away had sent them in a 20 minute circle in a very rural area only to end up in the same place. Tried to direct them without much idea of where closure was; AA didn't know about it. Eventually got them on another road by sending them a Whatsapp location. Must say the 17 yr old was remarkably calm, she only started learning to drive 2 months ago and they had been driving round for ages. Lovely girl, good assessment.
Caught up with emails and printed off more student details from uni. Ordered more ink for printer.
Relaxed over dinner and Vera.
Now starting to write report; determined to keep on top of these.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.11 -
