Twinkle tested positive this morning.. the other 2 did not. She has done 3 days at school since 3rd December and now has another 10 days off. OH taking her for PCR when he gets back from school.. only because school want it none of the rest of us have bothered. My temp is back to normal.. I have a bit of chest mucus and a really dry throat but other than that and AF I feel fine.. the 3 who had had jabs were ill for most of 2 weeks.. it does make me question why people are forced to have it and get if there really are any benefits. My sister is still whining she is ill but she likes the sound of her own voice.Moomin is hiding at her boyfriends for the week.. can’t say I blame her but she better go to college! I will give her a ring in a bit.Boog is whining about how they’ll die if they get it and following me around like a dog.. I swear my head cannot cope.Ooh.. I've put the airer away, and retrieved a new shower scrunchie thingy from a kitchen drawer to replace the falling-apart scrunchie thingy currently in use. Minging WU sponge also binned.
P&S are calling for coffee at 10.30 - they will leave with a big bow for sticking on presents (it was on my Christmas present and too nice to bin, but not something I would use) and a box of bath bombs.....because I always shower- since the bath was replaced with one that I struggle to get out!!! Something you don't find out until you're actually in it 🤔 Eek!!
Love to Twinkle bless her xx

Morning all. Hope you're feeling a bit better today, pigpen x
I have done something totally out of character. I have eaten just one and thrown away the last three F------o R----r hazelnut chocs instead of finishing off the large box. (I hasten to add that most of them were eaten by other people at the Epiphany revels yesterday evening, though I admit that I did have more than one or three.)
I am seriously considering doing the same with the chocolate gingerbread hearts.
Let's hope this new mindset continues.
I have also put 2 pairs of socks in the Donate box, together with the large cake tins that I used to bake my children's wedding cakes. If anyone is in need of a set of 3 square or 3 round tins for a tiered cake, do speak up now.
Today is cleaning day. I haven't started the actual cleaning yet - just tidying round. 'Nuff said.

Dining room table, or should I say our current desk, tidied.
It's freezing cold here and so grey and damp, like living in low cloud. Not motivating me.10 -

Hi ladies
Late to the party but I have been busy m'lud.
First of all - re. getting stuff done. I might always be busy, but there is just so so much to do here due to chickens, living in a muddy rural-ish area, lots of outside jobs etc, that whilst I focus on one thing, e.g. laundry, there is so much else getting neglected. Also I get really tired around this time, and find that if I don't sit down and rest for an hour before the children get home I am worn out in the evening. We are all blimmin fabulous, doing our best and just generally rocking the s""t out of life every day - NEVER FORGET THAT xxx
Soooo, this morning, I decided to stop being fed up at the state of the kids rooms (decoration wise) and start prepping them for new carpets, some skirting boards and a lick of paint. Neither has had a carpet for a while.... yep, please don't judge. So I have focussed on DDs room this morning, washing the walls with sugar soap, ripping the old carpet gripper things up, hoovering the bare boards and putting little pots of bicarb everywhere to absorb any remaining smells. Also binned the curtains.
I will do DS' room tomorrow. I have the skirting boards already, so will ask a friend to fit those as I don't have a clue, then I will get painting and order carpets in spring.
I have just scoffed cheese on toast for lunch, it's plain pasta for tea but the shopping is coming tomorrow thankfully, old Mother Hubbard has nothing on us!
Big hugs to you all xx11 -
Ha ha @Deleted_User. I shan't judge you, if you don't judge me. We moved here 8 years ago, there were two carpets left in the house. One is still down in the grandchildren's bedroom. The other, equally as awful, was in DD3's room. She decided to get rid of it last summer and decorate her room. Newspapers were laid underneath it as insulation. She was appalled to find the papers were older than her. She's 22! In my defence, we have said there is little point trying to do much here while DD1, her OH and the 3 grandchildren are living here. No space to move anything. Hopefully their new house will be finished this year.
Stent two hours gutting the kitchen, Now going to do DW again. Mumtoomany.xxFrugal Living Challenge 2025.11 -
Thanks @mumtoomany. I get lots of comments from friends and family who don't realise I am doing everything on a shoestring budget, and have even had "why don't you just get new bedroom furniture and carpets on credit?"..... um, no thanks.
Spent a small amount online just now for bits that will make the job easier, namely Polyfilla and some cream spray paint to jazz up the existing curtain poles. Friend coming at the weekend to assess the skirting. I feel like I have achieved something today, so taking it as a win xx12
