That was lots of hugs for you, not a suggestion of what to put in a letter of resignation!Could you just say that you wish to resign as from xx/xx/2022? There is no obligation to give a reason.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!6

None of the things I want to put in my resignation letters ever make it in there… So just the one sentence stating that you are resigning with effect from… and possibly stating your notice period and confirming your last day given that in my last two jobs HR seem not to have read my contract and therefore have been unaware of my notice period. You may also want to say ‘subject to any outstanding leave’ if you think that’s preferable to being paid for it.
I also always make sure I send a nice, positive email on my last day to colleagues so that if I come across anyone later in my career they remember how lovely I am, not how much I nagged them 🤣
You’re doing the sensible thing with DH spending the night in a hotel, however hard it is. 7am hospital check ins are a bit of a nightmare at the best of times. Just don’t let him take anything he’ll mind losing (no watch, jewellery etc, and if you have an older phone handset it might be worth swapping). Do remember chargers (more than one) and headphones, and although he might not be up to it immediately depending on the procedure, lots of books (I have a reputation for reading in recovery - in fact I get all my serious reading done in hospital as I’m so bored I end up getting on with it!). Also earplugs. It’s noisy. And maybe even an eye mask - but TBH he’s not going to get much sleep.
Look after yourself and the kids and try not to worry too much.8 -
None of us write the truth in our resignation letters.... I am leaving because of the totally dysfunctional workplace and a manager who has no clue or how to motivate competent staff and identify incompetent staff and a senior management team who do not seem to realise what we do in the office once struck me as the truth but i settled for after much consideration I have decided to resign and calculate my final day to be xxxMade it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!5 -

Great advice here from people who know about resignation letters, I have nothing to add to any of that.

Hi Al - was reading on my phone but couldn't read and not post, especially as a date - years in the coming, now looks to be imminently decided upon for us too. Big ((hugs)) for you - i get the difficulty of not being there x
Just to add we have to do approx 100 mile round trip for the covid test & we live in a city but have to travel because they have to be done under this hospital. As well as doing the same 100 mile round trip on many different days for all the other tests that no-one seems to realise need doing until it's resulting in yet another journey.
Anyways resignation - I'd like to thank you for giving me the opportunity of working in x role... I have enjoyed meeting and working with x (because usually it is the people we miss) It has been a difficult decision to make..
Not sure if any of these are appropriate..
Update us when you can re hubby being home x
DD gift sounds amazing and what a fabulous study course - if i could just keep going to uni this would also have been on my list.
Regarding your office too, when it all settles and you know the space you need, you may be able to relocate back to your home and free up the annex for other income x We just have the small house and Mr Socks sees no issue speaking to me whilst i'm mid complex problem solving or even on a call or training1st May 2025
