It is for admiring, not spending. I am always faintly outraged at the idea of using it, even in a genuine emergency. My mortgage free diary: +++ Divide by Cucumber Error. Please reinstall universe and reboot+++

We are drowning in strawberries here - picked 1.2kg yesterday and they are still coming. Not brave enough to make jam (last time I did it was a disaster! 😳) so have processed about half of them into a compote. We will draw a discreet veil over the mild boiling over; over the floor, the worktop, the pan, the hob etc etc …. 😂

A friend makes chia seed strawberry jam. I've never made it so not sent a link to any recipes but it has always sounded super easy - no boiling and setting and all that faff. Doesn't keep for ages (only a week or so) but it might be worth a try?Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!4 -
That sounds interesting .... the protein and the fibre in the seeds will offset the sugar hit of the jam. I will have a look, thank youWatty1 said:A friend makes chia seed strawberry jam. Hi KajiKita. You probably know this, but you can freeze strawberries for later use. Just rinse, pat dry, hull and freeze in tubs. No good for eating raw after freezing, but great for jam, compote, frozen yoghurt etc at a later date.1

Funnily enough I bought a 'new to me' Vegan cookbook for 20p today and on flicking through saw it has a recipe for Chia JamKajiKita said:

Just joining in on the jam suggestions - a friend of mine used to make 'freezer jam', never made it myself but she rated it - no cooking. There's a recipe on BBCFood here, but I've not tried it."Think of many things, do one"

Thanks @cafelady, @teapot2, @SandyShores 😊 Seems there are multiple ways of working with soft fruit! 😊 I feel less intimidated.
Been doing some more ‘play’ with crochet:
This is a piece of double crochet in Aran weight cotton yarn. I can see that my foundation row is a bit tight for tension but I am pretty pleased with the edges 😊
I will try a piece of treble crochet this evening. Mr KK is deep in Isle of Man highlights atm so it balances out his excited end of the sofa! 😉😂
