Probably an odd angle, but for me there is a point where self respect kicks in. 'I would love to do that for you but me, my skills, my knowledge are worth more than that', and the situation you have just been through impacts on that self worth so it is almost self sabotage if you see what I mean. You are good at what you do, and you are worth £X has to be the self talk.
ETA I took a half pay short term role after my major blip to rebuild my confidence, but it was a fixed term thing and it worked for me. It did help.My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

Can one add that money isn't everything? I know you aim to be mortgage free but happiness counts for a lot too. If the charity is doing something that would make you happy that may make up for the difference.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. This one sounds like it fits many of the boxes at least 😊Watty1 said:You might need to kiss a few frogs before finding the ideal job - so - go for the charity job and see what that vision board createsSandyShores said:What about if you include travelling time in hours? I'm guessing it might not make much of a difference for you, but when I include the hours travelling and work out my hourly rate it makes a big difference. So I'd rather be nearer home with less actual salary and then utilise non-travel hours to make up my salary (selling stuff etc.) and save money (e.g. home cooking etc).

Had to spread my replies over two posts as your replies ran over two pages 😊 I appreciate all the input as it makes me think.Strange day yesterday as skimmer was back again …. There’s something about that man I really don’t like. I thought I was being silly / paranoid / over sensitive, but when I mentioned how inhibiting it is having him around, Mr KK said it before me …. Hopefully today will be the last day! Some wins for yesterday:
- CV updated - tbh I ran out of oomph to really go through it but it’s current and I have something I can send out. I will really need to immerse myself in it when I get back so I am ready for any and all recruiter questions if they call when I am deep in a border outside or some such 😉- Cleaned the next run of kitchen cupboards and floor in front of the cooker and the cats’ feeding corner. The latter took some doing!
- Did the application form and paid the membership fee for joining U3a - the local branch does a weekly tai chi class for £10 per month which some of my neighbours go to. I think this would do me good.- More washing done and almost fully line dried in the sun, which included jeans for Mr KK to take on holiday with him 😊
- Got out in the garden for an hour or so and weeded the whole length of one bed in the front garden. It was interesting to see how the ecology of the weeds changed from one end of the border to the other - it starts in shade and ends in more open conditions. This needs mulching now and there is scope to pop some violas in here too 😊
Today will consist of emptying out the fridge of inedibles (I’m still adapting to a different eating pattern with being off work), a bit more pre-holiday washing and Mr KK’s workwear, some gardening (the weather forecast is good), taking a run up to town as the car hasn’t turned a wheel in a week and I can get a refund on more work trousers that don’t fit … 🙄 and possibly some chilling on the sofa 😊

Sounds like a great Saturday as long as you do get some chilling time too. Weather here looking variable and I’m heading into town so no gardening today. Lots of leaves falling though so plenty to gather up.3

Feeling pretty rough - my head cold is getting worse … So tired and head heavy.Did manage to to get the refund for the non fitting work trousers.Cleaned my bedroom - several items went into the bin, three items for charity, one item I might be able to sell if I can clean it (necklace and earrings set). Used the ‘have you used it in the past 90 days, will you use it in the next 90 days’ as well as the ‘does it bring you joy?’ questions to help me shift stuff. Moved other things around so the space has had a refresh.Wrangled toscos - we have lots of treats for the holiday 😉
Tiny bit of cross stitch.Went to bed for two hours with my sore head.KKAs at 15.07.25:
