I couldn't face the soup I made yesterday again, so put it in the freezer and will instead be having a meat-free burger and fries from stocks. Cheaper than a takeaway, and more crossed off the list.
Will remember to get something out for tomorrow too! Some days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....

We ate all the beef Stroganoff last night so none to go in the freezer. Today's dinner is cottage pie so some mince will need to come out of the freezer.
Edit: I actually found a ready made cottage pie in the freezer so that is defrosting ready for dinner tonight. Will just need to cook some cabbage and make some gravy to go with it.5 -
Defrosted what I thought was Haddock to make kedgeree - and it turns out to be Herring fillets - ggrrrr!! I've looked in the Complete Cooking Collection and it seems that most people say to fry it in oatmeal (I only have regular porridge oats).
Anyone got any other suggestions? Something I can pop in the oven would be good."Men are generally more careful of the breed(ing) of their horses and dogs than of their children" - William Penn 1644-1718

smash up the oats in a pestle and mortar or whizz in a blender...pack onto fish, stick in oven, put on the bars directly or on something that lets the heat go all the way round.

Out: all the leftover bits of cheese (swear some was from xmas 2020!), bread ends, macaroni, for mac&cheese. While waiting for pasta to boil, quickly cut up the rest of the frozen bread into croutons, some got dried, blitzed into breadcrumbs, all back into the freezer.
Frozen blueberries for porridge topping tomorrow.

Hi guys
Can I ask if anyone has frozen Boursin cheese. I’ve still got some from Xmas that’s coming up to date and isn’t in this weeks menu plan.

Sorry @cuddlymarm can't help with the Boursin but I do freeze brie which freezes fine; I know Boursin is a softer cheese so not the same. Could you try freezing a small piece of it and then get it out after a few days and see what it's like once it's defrosted? That should tell you if it freezes OK.

Thanks JD
I've put them in the freezer anyway, it will be a learning experience. We go on hol next week (well in theory anyway cos it’s been cancelled 3 times already) so I’m running down all the fresh stuff and freezing the rest.
I’d managed to last this far with just bread, milk and veg but did an online shop which arrived yesterday. Mainly frozen and tins, and topped up with teabags and ground coffee which was on a really good offer. OH takes a travel mug of coffee to work which saves money as he would buy one out so I’m topped up hopefully until the next offer.

Fish pie from the freezer for me tonight along with green beans and carrots all giving me a little more wriggle room in the freezer I can't wait to defrost it. I have two new drawers to go in as the old ones had cracked and broken I've had them for months it seems so its definitely no more stuff in the freezer for me its got to be eaten4
