@joedenise could you share which recipe you use for fakeaway kfc? I've had a look at a few recipes and a lot of them require frying in lots of oil. I would prefer something a bit healthier.

I buy them specifically to do the KFC!  Don't use them to make mash and think it's horrible!

  • The one from 'Pinch of Nom' is also pretty good, and is oven-baked. https://pinchofnom.com/recipes/kfc-fakeaway/

First time doing the spice mix is a faff, but it does make enough for several meals. To be honest, when I ran out I used a tablespoon out of a pack of fajita mix and it seemed fine.

To those of you who love a challenge, please inspire me to defrost the frozen turkey and use it. Not feeling the love! Any and all suggestions Other than the obvious roast will be gladly and gratefully received! Many pleases and thank you. Its a 'proper' turkey. Seemed such a good idea!

I agree with @bargainbetty @Ellie79. Can always stick it back in freezer as another meal. When i have a big cut of meat i normally roast it. Dinner, curry, slices for sandwiches, soup/stew. Even the sandwich slices can be frozen. Doing a whole turkey in one go might feel like a lot of effort, but once it is done, the rest is easy.
I'll be poaching a large pack of chicken breasts in my biggest pot this weekend. And then freezing individually.
