Happy birthday to your DH.
I agree that peak time holidays can be a bit erm packed...., I generally choose quieter times and places these days. I failed at this summer in Marrakech. Oh no mfd’s I hope you still managed to enjoy it even if busy 🙄
Busy few days for dh’s birthday, get back from Salisbury Saturday afternoon, after a nice couple of (expensive!) days, we managed to do a free tour of the cathedral run by volunteers while there. Then met friends and family in the local pub back home Saturday evening, where everyone except me got quite merry 😆Sunday we took the kids and partners for a fry up then the cinema, then home for a takeaway. So no too stressful as planned as they were hungover.
Im waiting for this months energy bill which is due today or tomorrow, currently thinking of ways to cut back. The hot tub has been off for a couple of months, and really aside from tvs and computers which get used a lot out usage shouldn’t be out of control, I try to be careful with the oven, time will tell how bad things I get I guess, luckily they have grown up with the thermostat often on low of off so it won’t be such a shock. I am at the shops today so will be looking out for some new blankets for the living room, we usually have one out to use but I think we need more this year!Mortgage paperwork was sent off awhile ago and I’ve not had confirmation yet it’s been received which is making me a bit nervous, especially as chelse@ sent the wrong paperwork in the first place (2 year fix instead of 5 year fix offset) then told me I’d written the wrong code number down - I took photos of the paper work though so It was their mistake. Good job I check that would have been possibly an expensive change the way things are going.
Need to catch up on lots of diaries , I hope everyone is well 🙂MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁2 -
Sounds like all is good with you NG
From the way the media is talking the new PM is going to freeze energy bills, so hopefully it won't be quite as bad as we'd been led to think. But agree with you about blankets - I think we might need more than the usual one!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Definitely Vix 🙂
I was going to catch up with diaries this weekend but it’s been so hectic! Aside from having a house full and visitors popping by (family and dils family) ds2 got run over (slightly he says 🤦🏼♀️) last night in the Uber that was collecting him, it drove off as he was getting in and ran over then stopped on his foot, he fell on his recently broken arm too but luckily for the first time in months he was wearing his DM’s which meant he was bruised his foot and is and not back at hospital again! He doesn’t want to report it as the driver was very apologetic. Also his new wife was bitten by a family friend’s dog, not too serious but scary, honestly those two are a disaster 😆
Finances just checked over and September is the last month before the frugal times start again, I’ve spent lots of extra cash this year, dhs 50th, the weddings etc. selling the beetle helped and I’ve managed to set aside £1000 which is much less than I had originally planned, but I ended up giving dh some to spend on his trip to York and spending extra in Salisbury on fancy steak dinners for him 😁 there’s a bit left over on top of that but I’m about to spend it on some new comfy nightwear from M&S while there is 20% off 🙂 I’ve put on a bit of weight which I will sort out , I need to lose 3/4 of a stone, but in the meantime I’m need a few comfy bits to wear.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁1 -
How is one couple so accident prone?!?!
It's understandable that this year you haven't been able to put a lot aside, but you can address this now that all of the festivities are done.
Being comfy is a priority for me!3 -
Glad DS2 isn’t too badly injured again. I find these children are much more of a worry the older they get. I worry so much more. You’ve done well with paying out on 2 weddings. Don’t be so hard on yourself xx2025 Decluttering 10472⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Good to hear ds not too badly injured and I hope his wife is okay too.Good thing about this time of year is that it feels like a fresh start with finances, we've been a bit spendy too this Summer with various holidays (all paid for though and no credit) but time to rein it back in ready for the Winter months.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!1

The certainly are accident prone 😆
Back from our last 50th celebration holiday for dh, I’m exhausted! Have felt very dizzy since being back on Thursday (not Covid) but may have been the tablets I took to delay any woman’s issues while away - sorry if tmi 🙄 The cruise was however was relaxing, it was a one week fly cruise from Malta, to Italy and France. We didn’t book any trips and poor dh didn’t even book his visit to the Colosseum as it was the same day as the queens funeral, which I didn’t want to miss, he didn’t mind though as it was a ten hour trip with a one hour visit so will go another time. Ship was called Azura and smaller then last time with lots of quiet areas tucked away so felt better as most were up on deck sunbathing which is not for us.The remortgage starts in October, I’m so glad I got in before the bigger interest rate, it’s 4.01% I think compared to the 2.09% we are about to end on, it has to be an offset as well as we need to make way more than the usual overpayment allowance as I extended the mortgage to 20 years as it was interest only and time ran out when we raided the offset pot to clear the mortgage on the factory. So as in he good old days, it’s time for an end of year challenge! October to December, a perfect three months to have a squeeze when things are getting the most costly 😂 Xmas is budgeted for (present wise, nothing else like days out or food) and I doubt we are doing Xmas day which helps financially however make me very sad 😢 So back later with a cast iron fabulous three month challenge 😁MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁4 -
