I have a light duvet in a flannelette cover then a homemade light quilt on top. It has no wadding so is very lightweight. The 2 layers help trap heat better than one thicker layer. In fact today I have a sheet weight purple embroidered cover rather than the quilt. In time I will have a fleece to either go as well as or instead of the above.

Only the downie cover gets regular wash. The others get flapped about outside and pegged out from time to time to air in the sunshine and washed occasionally. (Obviously the sheet below us gets regular wash too)

Oh that’s interesting Daisy and Sc, it’s seems far more common now to use just a duvet. I did look at some retro blankets and wow they can be expensive now, so primarni it will be. My summer quilt is 4 tog, so if I don’t buy a thicker one I’ll need the extra blankets. I will have the duvet on top though as I’ve lots of Xmas ones I like to alternate in the run up 🤣

Bit of a quiet day today, cleaning the downstairs and making apple crumbles and a tea loaf, well a cherry tea loaf actually 😁 I’ve had to slice and freeze it in portions as I’m such a greedy guts and it smelt lovely 😋 went for a short walk which went no way towards offsetting the tea loaf but it’s another day walking which I what I said I would do.
