Pay off mortgage and start having even more fun 😁

I do hope it’s not so hot today, I really need to clean the house and it’s not fun in the heat. Went to see a mystery horror film last night with ds2 and DIL, a very gory silly film which was fun, might well go and see cape fear tonight too. We only just made it into the cinema in time as there were massive queues yesterday evening, I’ve never seen so many people there and at £18 odd a ticket it’s surprising! Was at Leeds castle on Monday with best friend , her youngest and his friend which was lovely 🙂 I’ve been before but I miss taking kids for days out I used to love it so much.

Today I’m visiting friend who is recovering for a big operation that she has been waiting years for, about three years in fact which is terrible. So a little spending has been done this week on ice creams for us all at the castle and some flowers and treats for friend today. I’ve also hammered my personal spending pot buying bits I’m running out of on offer like facial cleanser/moisturiser, root touch up, leave in hair stuff etc. I’m trying to get better offers online and bigger packs if I can so it’s cheaper and get those costs out of the way for a few months with some of it. I think I’d really like to try a reduced budget for the last part of the year like I used to do from October to December. If memory serves me right it used to be live off £1000 for the last three months? Seems impossible now and that’s with just two instead of five 😳

I’ve cashed in the premium bonds ready to pay off a chunk of the outstanding 0% cc, but realised that some of the rest of the money is in regular saver that ends in September, so I will leave that in there I think, so it won’t be paid off this month. I’ll make the last payment from wages from September now instead of Augusts money flipping those months around. So I can easily transfer the holiday spending money in cash rather than using a cc and paying it off in sept if that makes sense.

Greying, trust me I’m wearing my rose tinted specs 😂 I was the parent counting down the days to the start of school in September like children countdown to Xmas 🤣

It’s been a busy week, a bit hectic visiting and seeing people last week and then Sunday we saw ds1 and partner for breakfast and to buy them flooring for their hall ( his birthday present) He has had a medical issue ongoing a while which was not responding to antibiotics, so long story short it’s been a few days of A&E and then surgery yesterday. All good now, except he has to have dressings changed tomorrow and the earliest appointment is in a few weeks time 😩 so we have been told A&E again or walk in centre. I’ve been driving and taking him as partner is working and doesn't drive, it’s been very tiring, home at 2am then back at 7am for surgery one day.

Then after all that stress my phone has decided it no longer wants to work. It’s was my first ever new phone in 20 odd years which I bought about 5 years ago so I could take good photos at the kids’ weddings. I really don’t want to spend on a phone right now, but after a lot of research this afternoon, it’s either go second hand or brand new where I can get a 2 year warranty, decent camera for all our trips and probably claim the vat back via the business , so I went for the dearer option of new. I did look at other phones that weren’t by the big fruit themed company but they are not compatible with my fairly new watch that does all my heart bits. How do people afford to update their phones every year or two, they cost an arm and a leg! Anyway, I now need to find some money to give dh back for that really, so reduced personal spending for a bit is required.

Food spending is a bit more than it should be right now, did a top up shop in @sda today which was cheaper than I expected it to be, I don’t usually shop there. Im currently at £284.35 / £500 which is way over at this point however last month was sparse and the cupboards ran down, we do have a lot of tins again and plenty of fresh.

I think most people get their new phones as an upgrade and pay monthly. That's what I did when mine started to flag a couple of years ago, I think it's about £11/month (not the fruity one, admittedly, the astrological one). I think BF pays more like £50/month for his though, that would stress me out!

I did look sc at contracts, there were a couple I thought that’s not so bad until I realised the contact looks like it’s for a year or two but the actual payments are over three years, no thanks 🫣

I had the trauma of witnessing ds1’s wound dressing being done at the walk in centre today 🤢, it was in the hope that his partner could be instructed by me watching how to do it so they can go away Friday. What a deluded world we were in thinking that could happen, he’s going nowhere and needs it doing every day by a nurse which will be a right pain as he doesn’t drive and there are no appointments, this could go on for weeks and so far he has just one appointment booked for tomorrow and that’s it, so it will be walk in clinic every day 😩

Where have the last few days gone?! Time is flashing by lately I swear. Well ds2 is still needing daily wound dressings and there are currently no slots in our whole borough at all for the weeks ahead 😩 we have actual appointment today and Thursday but other than that it’s still the walk in clinic, Saturdays was four and a half hours, I just can’t believe how bad things are with aftercare.

Today will be a cleaning day and catching up with bits and bobs day other than that, when it’s really hot nothing is getting done 😆 I did spend some of the weekend sorting through dh’s wardrobe - yes he’s a grown man but wouldn’t he bother and we couldn’t shut the doors hardly plus he would keep truly awful old shirt 😳, so I did the bulk of it and let him look at the piles to throw away and then to convince him his clothes won’t be as creased if they are not all squished up. We got rid of all his old cheap work T-shirts as he now wears a uniform and I spent a while cutting them into cloths, I’ll have the light coloured ones and he will take the dark ones for work. Not sure if the huge bag of old clothes I sellable, possibly a few bits, I’ll take some to the charity shop too. Vint3d has been going well this week, I’ve sold quite a bit of late as I’ve added the odd bit here and there.

Food budget is not going well this month, no idea why as I feel theres never much to eat. I’ve just spent £56 on cat food on am@zon as I track the price and its dropped slightly, so that will mean we only have about £10 a day for the rest of the month for everything, store cupboard dinners here we come 😬

My goodness, I didn’t know it had been so long since I’ve posted 😳 Yesterday ds1 got told he doesn’t need his wound changing at clinic he can do it himself now, we have spent a lot of time at the walk in clinic and various places when lucky enough to get appointments. It’s been a lot but as I told him yesterday I’ve loved spending all this time with him and I’ll miss it ☹️

Sunday was our 30th wedding anniversary, so finally I am wearing the new engagement ring that was bought earlier in the year in York. (The old one I haven’t had for years) I chose one that looked like my old one. To celebrate we went to the bootsale 😂 we also met our friend and ds1&2 and dil, they all managed to buy a few bits. Then just dh and I went for lunch at a restaurant by the cinema (where I live part time 🤣) which we have never been to as we never eat out there. It was Turkish and very good, being paid for by the monthly fun money pot. It was great as a treat but I couldn’t eat out regularly as it’s just so dear!

Tomorrow if dh gets home on time we are driving to York to stay in my parents flat, then Sunday further up North for a night to county hotel (Tesco clubcard vouchers) , then back down to York for one night again before coming home Tuesday on dhs birthday. I’ll pack today and do a bag of food and drink as usual, but we do tend to eat in in town in York, but it’s usually coffee and croissant with a meerkat code etc. for breakfast or Greggs pasty in front of the minster not restaurant meals. I have this time booked one though as it’s his birthday which he doesn’t know about 😬

Anyway the finances need checking and I need to pack 🙂
