Wow the weekend went fast! Dh was out all of Saturday but back for the last England game ( very tipsy 😆) then Sunday ds2 asked me to see a film but instead I was a good DIL and went to see the in-laws with Dh, so ds2 offered to come too as DIL was at work. As my BIL was there - albeit in bed we took MIL out for a coffee at a tiny summer fayre we drove past, she’s now much recovered from breaking both hands and ribs earlier this year. But wow it can be frustrating! She wants a puppy 😡 She is 86 &1/2 and dhs younger brother has said he wants to get her one - he now looks after them during the week, he has no other job or money or home but will help with it. Honestly the state of their last poor old dog at the end was terrible and they wouldn’t let us help. I’ve said quite firmly how wrong I think this is, with other stuff I’d get annoyed and keep my mouth shut, but not when it involves animals and what I know would be wrong. Ds2 was good and came from it for a softer angle of how much money it will cost them and how bad vets bills have got - assuming you take your pet to the vets, its not something they did much of. Argghhh, why are people so selfish?
She also wants to go to Spain for one last time and see her families graves which is fair enough, it’s opened a can or worms, fil was apparently well enough to hide her old passport to stop her getting a new one, and she has no personal paperwork as he looks after it and won’t tell her where it is 🫣 we also found out she is not a Spanish citizen as years ago they “may” have emigrated to Australia so she had to relinquish her Spanish citizenship?! They of course never went.
I don’t think ds2 could quite believe some of the bonkers stuff my in-laws say and do 😂
Anyhoo, enough of that in-law bashing 😆 today’s plans are take mum out to buy a new suitcase against my Dads wishes, he has an unexplained anger towards excessive suitcases but she wants a large for our trips to Norway and all they have is about twelve medium sized ones in the loft 😬 we did a bit of car jenga to see what we could fit at the weekend incase we need to book another car space and sadly for him there’s room for another large…MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁5 -
Washing day today, a bit earlier than usual as it’s the boys’ birthdays this weekend and I’m not sure when we will see them so thought I’d get on top of things. The house needs a good clean too, especially the fridge 🙄 after that I’m going to list some bits on vinted I found whilst rummaging the eaves space whilst looking for an item I sold on vinted this week. I’m so sick of having stuff listed that’s been there for ages, I might just stick everything on at a pound and give it a month and get rid of it doesn’t go, I’ve still got so much stuff left.
Another thing to do is start exercising again, things have tailed off and in the hot weather I stopped the walking too but it’s cooled down a little so no reason not to go out early….MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁4 -
Blimey where have the last few days gone! I’ve sold a few bits on vint3d, still more to list. It was the boys’ birthdays Friday, I took breakfast to ds2 and DIL on the way to the cinema (fruit and posh bread) to see The odyssey, then we went for lunch near the cinema afterwards, then a visit to ds1who finished work early for a cuppa - he was hungover and didn’t want to go out so I gave them money for a takeaway. Then in the evening back to the cinema with ds2 and dil to see Goodfellas. Yesterday was pre football match drinks at the pub with ds1 and his friends, I then came home to cool down while they went to the football and then the dogs. The hot weather is not very enjoyable, being outside albeit in the shade did me no favours yesterday, today we are planning on going to a classic car show an hour away, looks like it’s bit cooler today thank goodness.
All this spending has come from the fun pot which I started this year, it’s for dh and I to actually do stuff together or get the odd takeaway or drink out but it’s built up a little so I could treat the boys on their birthdays which is a win as I can go to 😬
In other less good news I’ve realised that next door has taken their house off the market 😩 it showed on rightmove it was sold, but I’ve just been on there and nothing, looked at sold prices (too early but you can look up years ago) and there’s a photo of it say it WAS up for sale until June this year 😭 I am gutted. Plenty of summers - and winters of weed smoke to look forward to, arghhhhhh. I’m straight back looking at houses again, which is depressing as they are all so expensive and or need major work doing. I probably just need to calm down. I was actually sitting in my new sewing room yesterday afternoon, with the cats asleep by me thinking how lovely it will be when they have gone 🙄MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁5 -

The house we bought took 6 months or so to show as 'sold' anywhere after we moved in, I wouldn't be so certain either!

As an example, this is from the sold data on my flat (slightly off, as I completed in March, but you get the gist!)

Oh I do hope so! But it’s not showing as up for sale now or SSTC which I think it would on the house price section still? I guess I will have to wait or ask. We got home from a lovely day out today, went outside to get the washing in and he was in his log cabin double doors open watching tv full blast (it was cape fear if anyone’s interested 😆)
Great day today though, we went to Castle Hedingham classic car show with ds2 and DIL, lots of great cars, lovely grounds and a pretty lake we sat by whilst eating very expensive food from a stall 😂 if go next year I will definitely take a picnic it’s a good location for one and not far from the car park. We met a lovely man with a mini who insisted ds2 get in it, it was funny as we had been discussing earlier if he would fit in one as he’s quite tall , he did just about. The guy thought they were our teenage kids and was a bit embarrassed to be told they are 26 and married 😆.Plenty spent and I have all but emptied the fun fund now, although I see no reason to spend a lot in the near future really so having a blow out when all their birthdays are July seems a good time to do it. It has set dh off on an I want a classic car spiral though that’s the only downside to our visit 🫣
