To be fair @Greying_Pilgrim this sounds a wonderful retirement!
@TallGirl - sorry to hear about your husband, a very difficult thing that you went through. Your words resonated, having gone through a period of illness with my partner, it really is important to have some kind of financial plan in place and having a will became something I stressed over having at the time. I agree its an added stress if not married (my partner and I are not) I do have a pension and having bought a little home (instead of renting) has given us a bit of security.
Money priorities in 2026 we are torn tbh between balancing the books on a thread of a shoestring, making memories and trying to make a start on doing our little home up. It'll be a mash up of all three.

Hi Daisy, hope you are feeling a bit better now π I did indeed wear said coat and walk into town in the rain! π Iβve actually been out rain or shine for probably every day for the last week now itβs so unlike me π€£
Iβm not too focussed on carehome costs as like you say unless you are super rich you canβt afford it anyway.
GP, I think I would like to grow old bobbing about seeing new places, probably unlikely though sadly π€£
Hi Queen of the hive, itβs a hard balance to strike knowing what to prioritize sometimes, making memories can never be a wrong choice though π©·Well itβs been a better weekend than of late, we ended up cracking open that fun money pot! Iβve been more than a little fed up lately and it turned out ds2 was at a loose end Saturday so we asked him round for a takeaway after work, then attempted to see a film afterwards which we were too late for so went to his flat for cat cuddles and rubbish tv until midnight. Itβs was Β£60 for three for dinner (and we held back a bit π±) at the cheapest of our local Indian takeaways, nice but seriously not worth it π
Then Sunday ds1 and girlfriend asked us to the local forest centre for a walk, so we did that then bought sandwiches and coffee for us all afterwards which was Β£39.90 in total. So half this months money gone but itβs something we just donβt do and was greet to treat them if only in a small way. We will probably factor in this sort of thing from time to time now π
The clothing budget has about Β£10 left at the moment as Iβve just ordered a couple of cardis from am@zon to try, Iβm trying to see the gaps I have in my wardrobe of useful things, like having a raincoat that fits for example and shopping according to use rather than seeing things and thinking βI need thatβ when I often donβt , I just like it π

oooh I shall be Vix! Bought a big flask and kids packed lunch boxes for us last year, dh loved taking out a Spider-Man box when we went out to Saltburn for the day π€£
Well you can probably start calling me Forest Gump soon, walked up to best friends house this morning (20mins uphill) then we walked to the next town - for the first time in my life π then I walked home from hers after, ok we stopped at cost@ for a drink but it was 6.4mile walk π very pleased with that although Iβm tired and have also been quite hungry so had some biscuits π, oh well as long as I donβt start putting on weight I guess itβs a winβ¦Other than that Iβve hacked at my hair today, itβs quite long, I think itβs looks fairly tidy but will get dh to check. I have not been to an actual hairdressers since 2022 now when dd got married π±Iβve had dil, my aunt and dh as well as myself have a go. I will go to a hairdressers before we go away in April but it looks better than when I used to go all the time for highlights and a cut, now itβs fairly low maintenance π¬

Impressive walking NG! Walking is really good exercise, so definitely worth getting into the habit. And you burn quite a few calories an hour, so hopefully the biscuits wonβt be too much of an issue - but donβt take that as carte blanche to eatthem all π

I used to work with someone that sat and ate sweets all day, because she was "going to the gym later" π€¦ββοΈ

Hi vix, im hoping it burns a few, tomorrow i will see as i weigh myself once a week and only ever lose and put on the same pound recently. The factory is on the brink of being let or having the deal fall through today. Apparently the lease was dated for a move in date of today which i found out yesterday π± (dads been helping as its his area) so it was a big rush and then at close of business our solicitor emailed to say they want it added in the lease that they have the right to remain after the lease term and renew at market rent. Thats not happening and we legally we don't need to do this, so our answer again will be, well to be polite it will be a no π€£ Fingers crossed it goes through or we are back to square one with an extra bill of about Β£3k π©
Plans for today are shops with best friend, trip to the crematorium, long walk and hopefully a financial plan - for paying off debt not having to borrow more if the deal falls through πMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! ππ4
