I loves me a postcard! I think its a brilliant idea to get one from where ever you visit. A couple of years ago, it started to get hard to find them - NT started winding down their offerings for example, and it was mentioned that "people don't write postcards anymore, they send pictures via apps". But I've noticed there has been a bit of a renaissance with postcards - and I actually bought one the other day to inform a rellie about a change of phone no 😁 The issue with cards now (to send) is that the new style stamps are so ruddy big, there's no room to write the address 🤣
I must get a visit to a zoo organised - LG liked the 2 we've done so far. It was the snow leopards wot woz hiding when we last went - and despite several passes of the enclosure, we began to wonder if they existed at all....... 🤣

I also love sending and receiving postcards 😀
I've never felt January is a great time to go all austere and hair shirt. Waaay back in the day I started saving £2 a month as 'January money'. That way we'd have an extra £22/24 for an extra bit shopping and a treat (shows how long ago it was) to help eke out the eleventybillion weeks of January. We were always very skint by the last week before payday but that few quid made a huge difference even if I hadn't managed to save it each month.
Even now that we are on a much more even keel, its still nice to be cosy and caring towards ourselves in cold, dreich January 😀

Oh daisy thank you for giving us a LOL moment on this dreich, dark January morning 🤣🤣🤣 So funny, and yet so true......... 🤣 I like the idea of saving to survive the worst month too - and have a guilt free "something" coffee, trip, lunch out or whatever. Although I'm with you on the effect of inflation - but the idea is wonderfuldaisy_1571 said:

That’s not a bad idea Daisy, it probably is the month we need a treat the most 😆
If you are thinking of the zoo GP, ours was doing a January/start of feb offer whch was a little over half price, could be worth a look at this time of year as it’s so much cheaper and quieter 😬
I’ve decided to write a date and a memory of the day on the back of the postcard, will be a nice reflection at the end of the year 😊
I’ve now spent from my personal budget for food and only have £41.17 left in the pot 😩 I can’t bear when I set a challenge and don’t complete it! Ah well, I did resist some temptation this week- I have a very old dec@talon waterproof jacket that I wore to the zoo in the rain, it’s too small now, so with a fleece and top under it was very small so I need a new one if we are to have adventures that don’t just involve meals or the cinema. I found a couple in the shops but they were £60 and £65 each , better than the old one in that they have a detachable fleece lining, but it’s a lot of money and I hope to lose weight 🙄 plus there’s not enough in my budget to buy one as I’m spending no normal money for the first half of the year. So I did resist and then low and behold sold three items on vint3d last night and found a jacket on their for £15 plus postage which I could then afford so ordered that instead, hopefully it will do and if I lose weight I can sell it at probably hardly any loss, I’m weirdly much happier than you would think about this coat success 🤣
Plans for today:
post parcelsDo all washing
pick up the weights I got for Xmas that I’ve not used yet 😱Decide on a new budget as income will now not drop and write out a monthly budget for the year (old school in my Filofax 😆)

Was just going to suggest Vinted for a jacket.

🤣 Exellent!
Well I did a short 15 min walk and about 5 mins weights yesterday so a very slow start, my muscles have clearly woken up as I can feel them 😆 I need to work up to a proper daily routine of fitness, no reason not to really if I have time and it’s not too excessive. We are trying to get the paperwork done fast for the rental, everything I think is sorted and then last night I got an email from the agent saying the tenants “didn’t realise they needed to pay the building insurance and service charges” 😩 This is usual for commercial property, displayed on the adverts and also they were told this by the agent - they are asking us to pay anyway, er no is the answer 🤣 so I guess we will see today if they are serious or not. So annoying as I spent ages yesterday putting down on paper what our budget this year might be and what to pay off first.

newgirly - is this an established business? Have they been operating out of their mum's garage or something? How can they not know this if they are a bona-fide operation? Or have they been cossetted in a starter unit or economic development zone or something - where those sort of costs may have been covered/factored into a total rent cost - or just not declared in the case of mam's garden shed/outhouse or garage. This is stress you don't need. But thank heavens you've got all your ducks in a row and can roll with the delays and messing around. Is the agent fed up of them yet? Or are their eyes focused on the commission?

Hmm… so it seems we can't edit the quoted text any more to limit it to the bit we want to highlight?
On being weirdly satisfied about the coats - I always get great satisfaction when something like this happens: you need something and then, having resisted the easy option, it comes along. Such a good feeling!
Less good about more nonsense with the renters 🙄
