Haha I guess it’s good 😆
Well I’ve cancelled my online sainsbugs shop for the weekend and done smaller shops I can carry from Lidl this week instead, one after the gym one after meeting best friend. I go out in the car a few times a week near one so really this might be a more annoying but cheaper and better way of shopping, I shall give it a go for awhile anyway. I did also buy some lovely Lidl dupes of some lvsh shower gels, one for dd which was £1.69 instead of the astronomical amount she pays for the real stuff, hopefully it will be good, treated myself to some gorgeous rose scented ones two.
Grocery spending so far is £68.43 since 3rd of feb which makes us slightly under budget based on the £430 I believe it is for feb over 28 days (since 3rd). I also got a few pennies and pounds in my various accounts at the building society totalling £11.96 , so I’ve transferred that over to a girls 50th cruise savings pot for spending money which now has £11.96 in it 😆
We had new meters put in this week finally (third visit, we still need a fourth) and now I’m watching it whirring round happily all the time, I shall unplug the flipping thing soon, it’s going too fast 😂. I did get a £40 credit this week as they failed to show up the first day to fit it and I had to rebook. We do however have a fairly big debt considering the heatings usually off, I think it’s volume of people really.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁5 -
Good going on the groceries front - and remember the shopping in person is partial exercise too - two birds with one stone and all that. Are they smart meters NG? For electricity?Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Amazing progress on the mortgageDON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Yes Vix smart meters for both 🙂
Another very lazy weekend, I invited myself round my parents to partake in their weekly takeaway on Friday night, dad kindly paid and I brought home my leftovers for Saturday - we didn’t sit down to eat until nearly 9pm as it took so long so I didn’t fancy much by then 😩 still it got me out the house as everyone else was out and about. Today I’ve cooked a pie roast, basically I want to do a roast dinner but can’t be bothered so they all had shop bought pie and roast potatoes, Yorkshire’s and veg 😆 filled by a value tesc@ strawberry cheesecake, very unhealthy but under a pound and a treat.
I did pop out Saturday as best friend was a loose end and bought myself a lovely cosy fleece from n@xt, it’s been so cold here and I only have one that I wear for the gym a couple of times a week so needed another one, lovely big pockets and very cosy 😬 plus my new holiday cardi turned up from vinted, it’s the exact one I wanted from Amazon but was only £1, when it arrived it still had the tags on, what a result! This evening I checked and the booking for specialty dining was open for our mini cruise in two weeks time, we have booked the beach house for one night which is carribean/south american type food, it’s cost £9.20 each for whatever we want from the menu except a couple of premium dishes are usually a few pounds extra like the steak. Then I booked the posh afternoon tea in the fanciest restaurant onboard (they do a free one too in the main dining but we have never tried this) which was £13.93 each. Just thought I post the prices incase anyone wants a nosey, I know I like to know what things cost 😆 the other three nights including the black tie we will eat in the main restaurants which is all free, breakfast will be probably a mix of the buffet and the main dining room, lunch the same. So nothing more to pay except drinks as we can’t get a package for a short break, I will be taking our filter water bottles and coffee and travel cups and longlife milk with us (there’s a fridge in the cabin) we will have coffees out but I like a couple first thing too.Not much else to report really, life is a little dull at the moment 😁MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁9 -
I’ve just checked the finances and we are at £69.53/£430 so far from the grocery and everything but personal spends budget. We have a fair bit of food still but I do need a few bits. I’ve been trying to clear out the freezer of things that have been hanging around too long so I can fill up a bit easier if I make dh dinners for another day. I hate cooking at the time he comes home and wants to eat (especially in winter) so I do tend to prepare earlier, we don’t usually eat together as it’s often too late for me 🙄
Plans for this week are:
take mum out today to the shops
visit friend who is resting after her op
Aunt is visiting for lunch
visit the crematorium this week- baby dd and sister
Out with best friend
gym twice
Hospital blood check
Might visit the guys at work again too
Also I shall do and finish also the packing for our trip I think, instead of hand luggage cases, I’m taking a bigger size and packing it all loosely so I can do it earlier without smooshing it all up, we are not flying so have room but I’d say I’m naturally an under packer rather than an over packer nowadays 😁

If you're on smart meters now NG, you should definitely look again at time of use tariffs for EVs. I checked with Mr MV and we can't think that it's the charger, however old it is, that would prevent you from being on one of these - you might need to set the times to charge on the car, rather than the charger, if it won't do that though.Sorry to keep banging on about it, but it'll make a huuuge difference to your car electricity costs (6-9p/kWh instead of 22-28p?) - and if you get a smart plug you can plug your heated airer in to take advantage too 😁Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Hi Vix, I think it was that the suppliers wanted me to have a new charger to allow that tariff? I’m fairly sure I spoke to octopus, I forget who else. The charger is at least 11 years old and our car is a 21 year mgzs if that makes a difference, perhaps I should look into it again?MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁3
