Brrrr it’s cold here 🥶 if dil is at work today I shall leave the heating off and wrap up, if she’s here I’ll turn it to 18 or so, my Aunt is coming over today to collect a treadmill from dil she wants to borrow, I shall put the electric fire on when she does, other people have higher heating levels than us in my family, my mum for example leaves the heating on well over 20 while on holiday 24/7 for the cat 😆
Yesterday I did a home treatment afternoon for my holiday, i bought some eyebrow and eyelash dye form amaz0n, eyelashes are blonde so anything helps and now my eyebrows and fingertips are brown 😆 also did my roots and will attempt to cut or get aunt to cut the back of my hair today. I’ve booked to get acrylic French manicure nails tomorrow for the first time in years as a little treat, not sure if I’ll continue for a couple of months afterwards until I go away in May, I do love having nails that look great but often get bored with it and the cost pretty quickly.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁7 -
Still no update on dh’s work situation, can’t believe they just email and say we are moving with no information then say nothing for I don’t know maybe it’s six weeks since now? Yesterday I spent a bit of time working out different budget options based on the the rent stopping at the end of April then the same each month up to august so I can work out what we may be able to pay for out of the holidays I’ve booked under the excuse I’m turning fifty 😆I’m also planning on paying for a yearly check up with the cardiologist at Bart’s, I forget how much the first one was, I think it was about £300 or £350, I’ve kept all my emails so will have a look. It would be nice to go back and ask any other questions I may have missed about the longer term last year when it was very much what they needed to fix and the operation and recovery, so I need to find a bit of money for them at some point.
Ds2 is off for a flat viewing tonight, it’s a wreck of a place but looks like it has a lot of potential, fingers crossed as it’s in a nice town very close by , just past the London border 😊 I so want them to have their own home and start their married lives in their own place finally, but I’m going to be so upset when they do go 🥹 I shall be encouraging though them unlike my mil who screamed at me for moving dh away from her and said I was stealing her son, I tend to use “what would mil do?” as a barometer of what I shouldn’t do when it comes to the kids and their partners 😂
Anyway, time to get going, lots to do today 😊MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁12 -
OK, so you definitely don't live where I thought you do, as there were a few decent-looking options when I did a search (any excuse to snoop on Rightmove 🤣🤣🤣) May be in dreadful areas though!
Love the "What would MIL do" barometer 🤣!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

There are quite a few options sc, just not as close to home in not such nice areas, most people start off like that but I think ds2 is aware they may be there a long time. I’m also making demands for an en-suite for when I stay over when they move out, I’m not sure they are taking me seriously though 😆 chance would be a fine thing, the other two take days to reply to messages let alone let their poor old mum move in!We are off tomorrow! It’s got a little complicated as dads offered a lift or use of his car (to save the electric charging issue) I said I’d leave it up to him which is easier and he said a lift to Southampton as he needs to stop off nearby anyway to check in some building work. So we will be at the hotel from Saturday afternoon until we board the ship Sunday at 2.45pm , one of the latest times we have ever been allocated 😂 breakfast is included at the hotel but I was hoping to swerve dinner costs there, probably still works out cheaper than a cab to a nearby pub though I guess. Feels like a lot of time wasting really but I booked it for free using club card vouchers so it’s a pain to refund, might as well make the most of it, I’ve stayed there before it it has lovely gardens which will be wasted of they weather stays wet like this….MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁6

Bon voyage! And I feel old reading that M&S dine ins are £25.
It used to be a tenner with wine 😱2 -
Thanks Al, I know what you mean I remember it well and it doesn’t seem long ago, but it probably is 😆
We are at the hotel now, we had a nice lunch at the nearby pub which was walking distance (not in the dark though!) so we didn’t have to eat in the hotel, still cost £60 for bread to share, a pizza, fish and chips and two drinks each. We don’t often eat out but it seems dear, way cheaper than the hotel though. No dinner tonight we will have little snack in the room 😬

We are on our last day now, it’s a sea day and we dock tomorrow very early. Had a wander round Amsterdam yesterday, 22k steps worth and then was shattered last night 😆 back on the ship for black tie night afterwards. Unfortunately we had a text from my brother saying that on Tuesday the two guys in charge at work were coming in to discuss what’s happening re everyone’s jobs. In a strange coincidence they held the last meeting while we were on a cruise in Nov 2023 , now I know we go a way a few times a year (although not last year) but what are the chances of that happening twice .…..
He now has a zoom meeting Friday and it’s looking like the offering is 2k towards your travel and the same wage, so a pay cut of about £1200 after travel for an extra 15 odd hours a week on your day? One of the guys travel would rise to £7k and his wages would be minimum wage after decades. As you can imagine this really was what I felt rather bad timing and obviously it’s impacted on the trip, even though dh said he’s not bothered, which his is, he’s pretty cross.Still in a brighter note we are having a posh afternoon tea in one of the pay restaurants today, it’s cost £13.20 each so hopefully it’s good, I might post a photo later 😊 Spending so far hasn’t been too bad considering we have no drinks package, I’ve had water with meals and the odd can of pop in a bar, dh has been restrained with alcohol having perhaps three a day even though he probably needs more at the moment 😆
£30 spent yesterday in Amsterdam on a couple of takeout sauasage and feta rolls with a soft drink, a stroopwaffle to share and a bar of chocolate from the Tony’s shop for DGD.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁8 -
Ooh I nearly forgot dh bought us both a bracelet from “pig and hen” in Amsterdam, I did almost buy him one for Xmas online but decided to wait and they had 40% off in the shop that wasn’t online so he paid for his own and one that looks similar for me as an early birthday present 😁MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁7
