Hi , thank you so much everyone for the lovely birthday wishes 😊 my 50th went well, tiring but good. On the Friday we had a takeaway at my mum and dads, then Saturday I had breakfast out with friends, then sunday dh, ds2 (only one around) went to the garden centre for breakfast then the local antiques centre, followed by all the kids and a couple of extras seeing a film and coming back for sandwiches and cake.I had lots of lovely gifts and was spoilt! A friend made me a beautiful book which was Harry Potter and when you open the pages she had cut out a scene from it of hogwarts castle, not sure what this type of craft is called but it was amazing I’ll have to past a photo.Back to reality now, I’m overdue looking at the finances and doing February’s op 😳 also I can hopefully budget for getting rent for the six months so will work out what that means. I have suggested to dh that if he does end up moving to the new job offer and leaving them, that he takes some time off before he starts as a kind of mini sabbatical- well an extended holiday I suppose, like a month off. Financially it might require some juggling (aka borrowing) but the new boss is will to hold the job until he wants to start and how often do you get the chance to do that. Not sure he will go for it though!MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁8

Oh do post a pic if you can newgirly - I don't know what that craft is called either, but it's so clever. I remember LG had a teacher who was mad keen on Roald Dahl and we got them a 'Thank you' card off et$y - the artist did that sort of book cutting technique,( but it was actually a photo) of an image they'd cut from Danny, Champion of the World, the TA had 'Mary Poppins', from the same artist. Soooooooooo clever. What a talented friend you have.
Birthday celebrations sound lovely. Family, friends, film, flora, food...... wot's not 2 lov??? 😁❤️

Well it’s been a hectic week so far! I’ve eaten no food just chocolate and sweets which is really stupid but I got given so much 😱 I’ve repeatedly knocked on ds2’s door and handed them over boxes of chocolates i’ve started to eat and can’t stop 😆. Plus there’s been a couple of very good news items 😬 somebody close has been awaiting the dreaded check up within two weeks when something scary is spotted, all clear though 😊 then yesterday after a bit of haggling ds2 and dil have had an offer accepted on a flat 🥳 it’s a really nice well cared for 2 bed with a sheltered balcony. About a 15 min drive away but en route to the cinema - hooray! I don’t know how but it’s only 210K, it’s a cheaper area than here but in a nice little quite pocket right on the edge of a new ish housing estate. I’m so happy for them , but sad for me as I’m going to miss them so much 🥲
No news on dh’s work still , everybody else received their letters stating their offers, not even a verbal indication of anything for him though 😡 we did however book a couple of valuations on the factory, I thought we had to pay but we don’t so that’s good, the first one came yesterday so fingers crossed!Financially the bigger picture is great but the current lookout is all over the place 😂 last night I put ds2’s car and and insurance for a year onto my credit card (still on extreme I don’t spend measures until they move) he’s got the money to pay it back but I need to work out whether to do a balance transfer or something else more temporary. Time for the penultimate (hopefully!) mortgage update 😬MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁6 -
💙💙💙💙💙💙MONTH 29 OF THE 33 MONTH CHALLENGE💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙
Balance at start Oct 2022: £61,452.11
Balance at 6th March 2025: £2,495.25
Total since the start Oct 2022: £58,956.86
Total for February: £2,517.12
ooooh so close! It doesn’t feel it though as we owe money on the credit card and will effectively be mf by being very overdrawn on the current account next month 😆 I’m determined it will still officially be the month I’ve turned 50 though, even if it costs us extra 😁

Oh newgirly - you have such a talented friend - that book is wonderful!
I got run over by a HP zooming about this morning at the school gates - still, I'd rather that than the umpty gazillion 'super heroes' and computer game characters who've never appeared in print 🙄 Thankfully LG was taken with my suggestion about a book that they have read and re-read, about an ordinary kid, who wears ordinary clothes (that we nearly managed to emulate from stuff we had), but has an extra-ordinary skill and goes on interesting adventures as a result. We only had to add 2 props, and the book and that was 'WBD' sorted for us!
