Indeed South coast π
Hey Gallygirl, long time no see π¬ Hope you are doing well β€οΈ hopefully it will all work out better in the end, my main aim is to get dh working less!ΒIβm very achey today, tried a new sit up thing in the gym, managed one and had to virtually roll off the thing to get up much to best friends amusement π now I can even pull myself up to sit up in bed clearly that area could do with a bit more exercise πΒ
Popped to hospital yesterday for a blood check first thing - all good, then off to the factory to visit the lads there briefly before gym, then a quick pop to town, then the gp to collect a blood test form, Β then home to get a sainsbugs delivery. I then cleaned the whole house , did a bit of washing, made a spag Bol and dyed my hair /eyebrows and lashes. By the time I got to bed Iβd done 15k steps, hopefully it helps balance out some of the lazy days π
Today dh is working all day along with ds2 and dil , Iβm going to meet friends for a coffee in town first thing then maybe pop to mums as they have been in York this week. This afternoon Iβm planning some sofa time and good look at the longer term finances again. Dh chased the second commercial letting agent yesterday and they said they are really busy and donβt Β know when they can come and value it, so he said he will be signing with the first agent Friday as they were preparing the paperwork, suddenly they had a window to pop down this Tuesday π Either way itβs obviously still a bit unknown what our income will be, but I might do a look at a proper longer term budget. On this mf (very long) journey we have often , especially in the last three years just winged it and not had savings pots for everything we should have, like vets bills, repairs, new car etc. so I might do a bit more research on that.ΒOff to hang out some washing now in the hope it will actually dry today πMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! ππ10 -
Another week gone, where is the time flying to?ΒI bashed my elbow on Saturday on the door frame, so painful, when I woke up yesterday I was Googling the walk in clinic (X-ray shut until April apparently) as it was so bad, however itβs a lot better now thank goodness. So I went for a walk first thing just to get out while it was sunny as I had a boring day on my own, but in the end I popped to mums for a cuppa and then ds2 and dil asked me to go to the antiques centre with them and dilβs sister is back from Germany where she now lives, so that was nice. So it kept me busy as I wasnβt up to doing anything around the house, and dh was at work all day again Sunday π©
Iβve started looking at when dh can retire, I want to find out if itβs sooner with a lower income or later with more, or somewhere in between. When asked he said heβs not really sure and doesnβt really want to get involved with any of it, probably my timing is bad but I feel like if he has an idea of what he wants I can work back from that to achieve it. He doesnβt like a plan (like I do π) though and is more along the lines of wait and see, we will retire when we can afford to.
I will carry on looking at this though and hopefully a plan will become clear. He doesnβt want to stop very soon apparently, so I need to do a short term financial plan to get by while the building is empty, then perhaps a medium term plan for when it is rented. Β Iβm thinking along the lines of planning to have the rental income from the factory as well as perhaps half of the state pensions we will be entitled to (Β£220pw) as our βincomeβ from when the mortgage is cleared, debts cleared, holidays paid for etc. and then after that amount we put the rest into savings/pension pots until thereβs enough to retire early on the same extra monthly amount (ie. One persons state pension) to boost up the rent. Not sure if this is anywhere near a good plan π it would mean he has more income when retired and the state ones kick in than from early retirement to that point though π€
Getting the balance right is very tricky, as I feel strongly about doing things while we are younger if we can afford to, as nothing is promised in the future. This is hard to work out, especially as heβs the one working, it should be his choice π©MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! ππ6 -
Another very cold but sunny day today, one load left of washing to try and squeeze on the racks outside. Last night I went to the cinema with ds2 and dil, plus the gym in the morning, no arm workout still at the moment though, although itβs improved a lot.ΒToday my Aunt is coming over for a forest walk and then lunch here, she and my mum are a little difficult (with each other) sometimes and Iβm beginning to feel like our May holiday is going to be impacted because of this π© Aunt comes alone as her dh wonβt join her, but is not confident doing anything by herself. We will see, but to be honest Iβve actually looked up adding on another week to the cruise before we go with them so we can be on our own for a week π it was more of a daydream, however it appears itβs already heavily discounted plus we get a loyalty discount and 10% off both the cruise we already paid for and the new one, bringing the new week in at about Β£480 each compared to the original week we have booked at Β£1200 each (different cabin grades). I shouldnβt have looked as the timing is bad to be spending more money, however they are driving me me nuts lately! Dh says βbook it but itβs probably bad timingβ, I feel like I need telling no π© π€£
Food plans for the day are spag Bol for dh, and probably greek salad and houmous and flatbread for me, still struggling to diet, but am eating healthily and doing exercise, I may just have to accept being a bit bigger but fitter now perhaps? π¬MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! ππ5 -

Sounds like a reasonable price for a bit of peace however would it be better afterwards so you have a week to recover from the dramas. Itβs so hard to diet but portion sizes is key maybe try eating of smaller plates itβs been a game changer for us. Really tells you when you load too much on.ΒSave Β£12k in 25 No 49

π I thought you would all be screaming NOOOOOO! Well I rang up to get a quote and the back to back discount doesnβt apply to fly cruises π© - - contrary to the day before, very disappointing. So now it would cost about Β£650 ish each so Iβve not booked and will keep an eye for the moment, itβs more likely to get dearer instead of cheaper but Iβm a bit nervous about whatβs happening with dh and work, Iβm going to think about it over the weekend.ΒWe are waiting for the second valuation to come in from the other agent before it goes up for rent, everything hangs on that really and it will probably take a fair bit of time. I should be so excited to be mortgage free (or neutral) this month, but I feel like we may be very quickly having to borrow from the offset if the factory stands empty to pay the service charges etc. will I still be mortgage free?Β it feels like cheating π€
Anyhoo, off to the shops with best friend today for tea and toast, then back to bring in the vast amount of washing I left outside last night which is probably damp again now. I also need to make a playlist for the car, best friend and school friend are taking me for my birthday day out Saturday which involves afternoon tea, then roller skating , then dinner at the local Mexican restaurant, I thought a load of old songs from our βheydayβ could be fun while we drive there πMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! ππ7 -
Urgh, woken up with a headache and and going to the factory to do a load of work for dh today, heβs got a big job in that he will do privately over the weekend so asked if I can come in and sew it all today on the machines. Canβt say no really much as Iβd love to πΒ
Last night I (yet again) joined WW π nothings happening really even though Iβm eating better so I thought Iβd give it a good run on WW tracking before I speak the cardiologist in May, when I stick to it properly I always lose weight so if it doesnβt happen this time I know thereβs something afoot like my medication. Sometimes you feel like you are eating well when in fact itβs still too much. Seems they have changed it round again and now the βfree foodsβ include oats and potatoes which is helpful. I was going to sign for three months but it was Β£18.95 pm for three or Β£7.50 pm for a year so I went for that, I can then start and quit a few times over the year π
The second valuation came in from the agent yesterday, a huge Β£45k a year π³ first agent says they are happy to go multi agency with them but a more realistic figure is 35k (they said Β£35-46k last week) so they will talk between them to come up with a figure to advertise at, thereβs also talk of us offering up to 6 months free as an incentive if itβs a longer lease like 5-10 years. We also need a bit for legal fees and renovations and now we will pay 15% instead of 10 % for two agents, but it seems worthwhile as they are different. So dh does not have enough in the business to cover it, so it looks like we will be mortgage free for a short time and then will possibly be taking money from the offset to cover it π₯² Iβm still going for mortgage free in March then might do a pay off the debt challenge afterwards π¬MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! ππ6 -
