Loving the elephant - as an aunt I only ever made a Xmas stocking - I need to step
    it up!

Sorry you missing the holiday but yes it is hard keeping your eye on spending vs  future OPs when you have such a big surgery ahead - hopefully you are striking the right balance for you
    DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff.    Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

You are allowed to have a bit of a wobble with the finances given the circumstances NG. But you know you won't want to go too far the wrong way - you've come so far and the end is in sight now. Maybe you'll have to wait for a proper celebration after the op until you're MF? It won't be long now at all!

😂 This seems like a vendetta against my love of nightwear now 😆

My mum said the same thing SC funnily enough, I do think that there’s going to be so many different types of people wanting to go private but having no clue if it’s possible or not, that clearer pricing once diagnosed might help, if we were thinking of funding this ourselves I would be very stressed not knowing if we could borrow enough.

I’ve had a letter from my GP this week saying they are referring me, why it’s taken nearly two weeks to write though I’m not sure! Our surgery is the best rated one on the area and I’ve always had a great opinion of them. However since this not so much, both visits to the GP with symptoms and different doctors didn’t listen to my heart and apparently you can hear the problem too. I’ve emailed about a letter to claim on holiday insurance too but that’s not been answered, I may have to ring.

Not much to report financially, did a couple of surveys and collected 68p from tcb, I’ve put a hold on the selling on vinted until afterwards but that had slowed right down anyway, I still have more to list later on. Ds1’s flat should be nearing the exchange date soon, hopefully he won’t be moving the week of my op, I’ve told him to make sure it’s not as there’s no chain and he needs dh help to move as he doesn’t drive. I’ll have another spare room when he does go, it’s slowly emptying out ☹️
I’m not sure if we will stay here or not really, the location is great for when we get old (er) 😆 we are on a main road a few doors along from the corner where the shops run at a right angle up the road next to us, we have buses every 5-8 mins into town and the station direct to the centre of London, but I think the house will be too big and the garden too small, plus the dreaded son next door and his home in the garden!
Time will tell I guess, but decluttering to start with seems like a good first step and then repairing and decorating what needs doing once we are fingers crossed mortgage free!

Cruises are permitted spending, so no tutting from me. But you do NOT need new PJ's, or Harry Potter curtains to put up in your cabin, or whatever else you might see in Primark between now and then and think is essential 🤣!
    This!

Cruises are definitely allowed - and that seems like good value and something nice to look forward to and with your parents too.

With the house, maybe don't get ahead of yourself! There's time for them to come back yet! 😬 And you've got enough on your plate that you don't need to be thinking about this at the moment. Chill!

Although not near London my parents who are late 80s remain in my childhood home because of all those reasons - close to shops, buses and rail links as and the beach is walkable too. I think if they downsized they would save in heating and maintenance but I get why the location wins for them.
