In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!2 -

He is lovely isn’t he 😊
Busy day yesterday - relatively speaking, best friend took me out for coffee and a catch up and had bought me a huge bottle of perfume back as she felt guilty going away right now, crazy woman 😂 in town I bought myself one of those Essexy type loose lounge suits to wear that’s comfy as I’m doing a lot of lounging and it was £20 for the set and easy dry. Then dd and co. came over between viewing houses, they currently like two so far, one round the corner and one a 20 min drive away and it looks like they might prefer the one further so far as it’s a half hour train door to door to her work in central london, they still have more to see though. I’m really hoping she chooses the one a few minutes walk away though rather selfishly 😬Ds2 and dil are off on the cruise we would have been on today 😢 sad both because I’d rather be on it and also I’m going to miss them being away. I really hope they like it as they did a cruise for honeymoon which they were not so keen on, I’ve booked them lots of the free restaurants as last time they didn’t listen to me and ate in the buffet every night as they thought you had to pay for the main dining restaurants 😂MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁5 -
Well Ds2 is on the water, only had a dozen messages or so asking questions 😆 they have booked lots as soon as they got on so that’s positive, hopefully they will see more than the buffet and the library unlike their first cruise. It’s so strange that would have been our holiday and I’m at home waiting for hospital appointments, I thought it was me being paranoid and thinking the worst and just wanting to put my mind at rest before we went away, but being like that could have saved my life really strange!Taking mum to the shops today as per every Monday now, I night buy a couple of things to brighten up the living room it’s so sparse because of the cats, we can’t have anything valuable that’s breakable 😆 so maybe some nice colourful vases or flowers from primarni. I’ve got most of my personal spending budget left this month and it’s due a top up soon, so I can afford some treats 🙂 I have slowly worked through my birthday money though, no idea what’s left but not much and it’s gone on food and misc. stuff. I also finally remembered I need to make some purchases on the hsb@ card to get a second joining bonus of £80 - I forgot it had to be done by April, my minds been elsewhere, what a waste 😩MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁5

Hope they have a lovely time on the cruise!
You did the right thing listening to your body and knowing something wasn't right. Many people just carry on thinking they'll be alright because they have too much to do to stop. Self care is so important and we need to all do it more! xMortgage Balance as of July 2025 £14,900.
Starting Mortgage Balance (June 2019) £72,000.
Aiming to be mortgage free by my 40th birthday, June 2026!3 -
Thanks jessy 🙂 I come from a family who avoid the doctors and even routine tests, I used to be like that until fairly recently with myself (not the kids who younger mind!) now I’ve gone the other way 😆
Keeping busy today again going for a drive to the coffee shop with best friend and school friend, the house is empty all day so I want to get out and it’s nice and sunny with blue skies here. I bought a lovely bright orange and green vase yesterday for £4.50 and also some new pj’s covered in lemons and limes for £8 in primarni, they are too big really but I thought going up a size would be more comfy lounging around the house afterwards, I may have to adjust the waist though!Shopping list for today in town :
Couple of bottles of smoothies or juice from Aldi
check out their organic fruit
See if they do grain pouches like M&S
buy flowers
Buy another nanna stretchy lounge suit from the local clothes shop, it’s so comfy and easy to wash I’m living in my navy one 😆
Also I will do the washing, looks like some might dry today and make a spag Bol in the slow cooker.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁6 -
Don't want to be a niggly nelly but after doing so well with not buying excess recently, dont let this issue derail all your efforts. Theres a lot of clothes buying and impulse house stuff getting noted. (I've never known anyone who buys as many pairs of pyjamas as you do lol.) From lots of posts about not having any spare suddenly it seems there's money for all these items plus giving the kids money.
I'm sure you're still finding your feet but in a few weeks you'll be out the other side, healing and recovering and having to reconcile all the finances again. You won't want to be adding months on when you both are also thinking about reducing hours, retirement and probably many more cruises etc
Ignore of course if your still feeling a bit fragile, I'm just trying to look after future you

Thanks Daisy, I had been thinking along the same lines but not brave enough to speak up. It's all because we love you, NG 🥰!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)
