I just bought the book Queenie too on both your recommendations. I will start reading the books left on my kindle when my husband goes back to work as he has annual leave at the moment. I think I have less than 20 books on there. I wanted to read the books on my kindle and then start going to the local libraries to get free books as I joined recently. You are allowed out 14 books at a time, I think they said.

I just heard of "hair slugging" as it was a trend that went viral on TikTok last year and I am going to try it this week. I only just washed my hair yesterday so it will be a few days but I will report back if it works.:)

    How to Do Hair Slugging
    • Apply a lightweight oil to the ends of your hair.
    • Toss your hair in a clean, fuzzy sock.
    • Secure the sock with a scrunchie.
    • Go to sleep and let the oil work its magic.

  • Glad you had a lovely, relaxing holiday Maman 😊

That hair slugging sounds interesting, Wednesday...might try to find time to give it a go! I'm still coming to terms with all my new moisturisers/eye lotions etc and don't always remember to apply them when I should 🙄

I hope the party hosting went well and you're not too exhausted, Helen?!?

I still can't believe that our structural beams are finally in situ and the acrows down. DH and his replacement *assistant* - who's almost seventeen and an incredibly strong agricultural student - worked their socks off 😄😄😄

It feels like the end is in sight at last, although in reality there's still loads to do...making good around the beams, flooring to change, two windows to lose, the new glazed frontage to build (after removing the remainder of the old), cloakroom to construct/fit out, ceiling and one wall to plaster, storage to decide on.

I don't imagine for one moment we'll have it completed by the revised target of the start of August, but we've waited this long and I've no intention of rushing as we want to get it perfect 😊

I know, hair slugging is a weird term. :D I actually thought that maybe I shouldn't try it in this hot weather so I might try it next week if it cools down a bit.

I just went out to hang my washing up on the line and it is so hot out there, 29°C. Tomorrow is meant to be 31°C! At least the clothes dry quickly out there.

I was planning on going out this week, I was going to get my nails done, take my dog to get her nails clipped and go and visit a local castle, but I think it is far too hot to go out so I'm staying in. The guy is coming to do our floor Wednesday and we have someone picking up the dehumidifier but that is about it this week.

I did just buy a new mini trampoline, but I won't be doing that in in this heat either!

    Hello Ladies,

On Monday I went to the Ritzy cinema in Brixton to watch the film Nitram. It is a compelling film about the life of the Australian mass murderer Martin Bryant. For me this film was a 7/10 as even though the film was interesting, it is a very subjective form of entertainment. I used a Tesco Clubcard voucher worth £7.50 towards my ticket price of £7.90, then paid the remaining 40p in cash.

On Tuesday afternoon, I went to my local Odeon cinema to watch the film The Lost City, which is an action adventure comedy. It was a silver screen film so my ticket only cost me £3.50. I got a free cup of tea, which normally costs £2.20. I also got 3 free biscuits and 3 segments of Terry's chocolate orange, all individually wrapped. The film has a very implausible plot, but Sandra Bullock, Channing Tatum and Daniel Ratcliffe, looked liked they were having a great time. It had me laughing out loud again and again even if some of those laughs were at the ridiculous scenes unfolding before me. This film was a 8/10 for me.   :)

On Tuesday evening, I went to The Bush Theatre in Shepherd's Bush to see the play Invisible. It was a one man play, written and performed by Nikhil Palmer. He was absolutely brilliant at playing himself, and the other characters, with no props. There was just the clever use of lighting and sounds as the backdrop to his change of scenes and to punctuate his acting skills. He is a great comedic actor and playwright. This play is only 60 minutes long, but he kept the audience completely captivated and engaged. I could not stop laughing. For me this play was a  9.5/10.   <3  I only paid £4 for my ticket which would normally have cost me £25 with my disabled discount, so I saved myself £21.   :)

On Wednesday I went to the Blackfriars Settlement mental health and well being discussion group. We had free cakes and a free fab ice lolly each, both of which were welcome to everyone in the group. We discussed the 60th birthday party that some of us went to. We also discussed the 2 upcoming day trips we are hoping to go on, if train strikes do not scupper our plans. It was an upbeat meeting.  :)

The hot weather here in South London is reaching record temperatures and  it is very muggy at night. Thank goodness the 3  of us in my household each own our an electric fan. Most nights they are on all through the night to enable us to sleep. I have plenty of Eucerin Factor 50 sunscreen. Yesterday when I was sitting at a bus stop in Shepherd's Bush, my feet felt like they were being burnt by the sun despite my sunscreen. I had to cover both of my feet with my tote bag, to shield them from the fierce sun rays.

@sugarbaby125 well done with the weight loss.

I must confess we didn’t do any decorating last weekend as we were busy with other things, but we are going to make up for it this weekend and crack on with getting DS room done.

    Hello Ladies,

I received my £326 cost of living payment from the DWP.  :)

Yesterday we had a Neighbourhood Voices Masterclass with Emma Dennis Edwards who is a really accomplished writer for theatre and television. She is also a talented theatre and television actor.

It was a really productive Masterclass. She set us lots of timed writing exercises. We also had to write a monologue. I was really pleased when Emma gave me praise for my monologue. She also commented that she was surprised that I could write so much in only 15 minutes.  :)

It was so much cooler in South London yesterday, thankfully. No fan necessary at night either.  :)

I need to go to bed but I have been watching the TV show The Peacemaker with John Cena. Oh, he is still very cute. The wrestler.

Peacemaker star and WWE legend John Cena is coming to Wales - Wales Online

I tried the "hair slugging" thing but the first time I used my usual leave in hair oil and I used a sock that kept falling off so that didn't work. :'(

I tried it again today with sweet almond oil that I bought from Holland & Barrett with a different sock and a different scrunchie and it did work actually. I didn't leave it in overnight, but I did for about  8 hours today. My hair did feel noticeably more conditioned and not oily at all after washing the oil off with just shampoo.:)
