If anyone can do links please......I'm hopeless. A recent picture of Helen Mirren at some award ceremony.
oh dear Helen. Not one of your best looks. That's one I definitely won't try to emulate.Bless her but I'm afraid it's a fail.Picked up a couple of nice tops today. Gradually adding some much needed pieces. I am so cross with myself. I have a wardrobe full of lovely clothes but I've regained nearly 2 stones and they don't fit me now. My own stupid fault. The (larger 😱) items I'm buying for now are mainly from the chazzers. I refuse to spend much because I'm determined to shift the excess poundage.Chanie. Cracking progress. I always think once the plastering is done the worst of the mess is over.6 -
Sugarbaby. I'm joining you on your challenge. My blood sugar levels are just about ok but I really need them to come down a bit more. And, as mentioned, I need to lose weight. So it's back to healthy eating, exercise and taking vitamins and supplements
Wednesday you reminded me to restart taking vitamin D. 😉7 -
Yes still tech issues. Which is why I split posts because I keep losing them.Photos of house done. Just awaiting them and the property details. Once I've ok'd them we can go live. Probably either next week or wait until after the bank holiday. I'll see what the EA advises.8

Yes, I saw the photos this morning and thought of you @helensbiggestfan. I posted some time ago that she'd been growing her hair but I think it looks too harsh, drawn back so tightly and the eye make up is a bit too Cruella for me.🤣

Thanks for that Maman. I agree it's just too harsh a look. Not at all flattering. She is a beautiful woman who can, when the role requires, be capable of looking very dowdy and plain. She can transform herself to look right for whatever part she is playing. Perhaps this look was to promote a film but usually on a red carpet event actors appear "as themselves" and not in character.Julia Roberts is the same. She too can transform herself. She's gorgeous of course but she can look quite ugly when necessary. It's really quite remarkable how they do it.I'm sure Ms Mirren will be aware of the reaction to her appearance. No doubt she will be back to her usual stylish and attractive self soon enough.I had noticed those black shoes looked very uncomfortable. Her feet looked very squashed in them. See she ended up taking them off. 😂6

Helen M reminds me of one of the elves from Lord of the Rings, with her long blond hair tied back like that 🤣. My theory is that many stylists don’t know what to do with her. They aren’t used to styling an older lady, particularly one who hasn’t overdone the surgeries to get rid of any signs of aging. I assume the cameras on the red carpet isn’t very forgiving either, but probably looks better up close. Still, she looks like she is having fun, so good for her.6

yes her ears are definitley somewhat elvish now.Apparently our noses and ears keep growing. 😱😂.I think you are very probably right about the stylist. And as you say she did look like she was having fun.I do like it that she's not afraid to experiment and keep trying new looks. No one could ever accuse her of being invisible or irrelevant.7

Watched a fun documentary about the programme "Are You Being Served". Apparently it was inspired by an idea from Joanna Lumley - who knew😂.Her husband at the time was a script writer (Jeremy something or other) who was commissioned to write a sit com for the BBC. He couldn't think what to write about. He had worked in retail and used to tell Joanna some funny stories, so she suggested he set it in a department store and used some of his recollections. The rest is history. Comedic gold. The Powers at the BBC hated it and wanted to get rid of it but the public loved it.Another one of my favourite women.8

Hello Ladies,
Yesterday I took part in the monthly Saturday session with Ola for Neighbourhood Voices. I almost completed one of the ideas I had for a play yesterday, as we have a 4 hour session on Saturdays, 2 hours then an hour lunch break followed by another 2 hours. We learnt a lot about the 4 basic structures and forms that you use when playwriting.
I am going to finish writing my 1st play this week.
When we were working in smaller groups, I got very positive feedback from the other 2 women about what I had written.
My daughter and son were out for most of the day yesterday, celebrating my daughter's 30th birthday. It was lovely having my home to myself and just relaxing.
I have started daily exercises in my home. I will slowly work my way up so as not to aggravate my Arthritic pain too much.
I currently have 5 events booked for June, 4 of which are free events6 -
Yes, I agree. I don't really like her look in that picture at all. I read a magazine the other day and Helen Mirren was saying that she got up and put on makeup and got dressed nicely every day during the lockdowns. More than I did! Lol.
I had such a lovely weekend with my brother here although I spent a lot of money. We went out for an Indian meal on Friday night and then we went to a few bars near the sea front and then got takeaway pizza Saturday night and then went to a local Buddhist cafe for brunch on Sunday.
I can't wait for our curtains and blinds to be fitted as I will start doing some exercise at home on my new exercise mat to work off everything I'm eating!
I really like that rose collagen hair treatment I bought from Amazon. My hair feels much healthier since using it. That will be a keeper.
I have arranged to go back to York in September with my husband and my brother and his girlfriend and also meet my uncle there too as he lives in the North. We will probably get an Airbnb or a hotel and stay overnight. It is a very pretty place.
I have also decided to go to Amsterdam for my husband's birthday in November. I have wanted to go for a while now there is a train from London. I need to get our passports sorted out as the last time we went abroad was 2008! It really makes such a difference having only 1 dog and 2 cats (I used to have 2 dogs and 6 cats!) as the kennels are much cheaper in Essex compared to London.
We booked my dog in for two nights for the concert in June so we will see at least one film and go to a couple of restaurants. I am going out this Saturday to meet my brother and his girlfriend as I still haven't met her. It was supposed to be The Killers concert but we will just meet at the O2 for lunch as they have a concert there that night for the band The Script. I want to go and look around the chazzers this week for a new outfit to wear out.:)
