  • Morning all. What a windy night, trees have come down locally and the lights were flickering but electricity didn't go off thankfully.

Yesterday was a day of chasing my tail and i just couldn't seem to get caught up with things, hopefully today will be a bit more productive, dogs have been walked and chickens sorted so far and i'm so pleased to hear that the housing restrictions for birds is being lifted but need to check the dates. Collected up some sticks and branches that had blown onto the drive last night and put those in the wood shed to dry for the woodburner.
DH booked us a hotel away for the night, we go tomorrow and then will spend a lovely day in Harrogate on Friday and should be back early evening, going to prep a stew and leave it in the fridge for DD to put in the slow cooker on Friday morning which means tea will be ready when we get back.

£5 in from £bay and £12 from v1nted which has gone to CC.

    Plans for today -
    clean bathroom
Hoover through downstairs and mop floors.
    Prep stew
    Make choc crunch cake
    washing away
    polish downstairs

    Frugal wins -
    Ebay sale
    Fallen branches for woodburner
    surveys and microsoft rewards

    Have a great day xx

  • Hello, think i've hit the mid month slump and not a lot is happening.

Lovely time away with DH and he treated me to new pair of sandals and a dress for holiday next month, although i have said to him they are my birthday present. Squirrelled away the body washes and shampoo/conditioners that were in the room at the hotel.
Ordered dog food pouches from amaz0n as i had some vouchers so £13 saved and will last a month. Sold an item on eb@y so that is £10 for CC.
Seem to have lots of eggs at the moment, it is either feast or famine with the chickens so i have boiled up half a dozen and will make egg mayo, which me and DD will have in sandwiches. I have 1 manky banana so will make a banana and sultana loaf later when the oven is on and maybe a cherry cake as well.
I want May to be a frugal month of using up as both freezers are fit to bursting, yet the larder cupboard is getting low on items, Mr L has put a voucher on my app for £5 off a £30 spend so might go and stock up on baking items, tinned/dried goods ready for a May of frugalness and making do.

    Frugal wins -
    More packaging
    Eggs, eggs and more eggs
    Ebay, microsoft rewards and surveys
Dog food paid for from survey vouchers
    Hotel freebies

Yesterday was lovely here, spent it doing the garden, today thermals back out and like you thinking of putting the burner on. Glad you had a lovely birthday with a few freebies thrown in. Xx

  • Afternoon all, early finish due to todays strikes and me taking some hours owed.

What is going on with the weather it is so cold, going to light the woodburner shortly and put some washing on the airer, which i think is ridiculous considering it is nearly May.

Not a lot going on moneywise but it's payday tomorrow so i will be able to shuffle some money about. Small spend yesterday as i needed to get moisturiser and other toiletries, MIL had given me a voucher for my birthday so only £9 added. It's also an independent store which i prefer to support so they threw in some tester size freebies which will be good for the holiday bag.

Have done the meal plan for the week, just need to write a shopping list, might need tweaking as i'm not actually sure who is around over the bank holiday weekend. Trying to eat up lots of tubs of things in the freezer to keep May spends down.
Tonight we are eating a whoopsied chicken pie with some new pots and cauli cheese left over from a previous meal, also found some leek and potato soup which will do me and DH for tomorrows lunch, crazy that it is still soup weather.

    Frugal wins -
Birthday voucher to pay for toiletries
    Surveys
    Free cake at work
    freebie toiletries

    Have a good one xx
